Re: BD ??? The African Queen
Evidently the ITV licence for African Queen has lapsed. The Paramount BD is from 2010 so this must be a 4k restoration. I'm in.

Lame extras. I understand that MoC could pretty easily dredge up a lot of (filmed) interviews with the late Peter Viertel, aka this film's uncredited co-screenwriter/script doctor/whatever. So, why don't they?

Re: BD 218 The African Queen
Possibly because :
The rights are not available or too complicated to untangle.
The rightholders asked for way too much money.
Paramount contractually prevented that.

This is going to have reshuffled extras:

They are the audio interview with Jack Cardiff, NFT interview with John Huston, and the new interview with Ian Christie.
We do have some other extras in the works that if all goes well we should be able to announce soon.
Sorry!

I received my copy, and the book and disc case are ridiculously tightly packed inside the shell. Its very difficult to get them out.

Re: BD 218 The African Queen
It seems to be a common issue with this edition. The best way of tackling it is to wedge a finger between the slipcase and the Amaray then extract the contents. I was wary of doing this at first, as I didn’t know if there was enough give in the slipcase, but it can be done without damaging anything. What A Disgrace wrote: ↑Sat Nov 30, 2019 1:35 amI received my copy, and the book and disc case are ridiculously tightly packed inside the shell. I reported the issue to Jacob at Eureka a couple of weeks ago, and they have raised it with the manufacturer. Apparently, the initial template received by Eureka was fine.

It's likely the manufacturer's producing tolerance was just in disfavor of practicity for this one. I've seen this in the past at work : tolerances can be, say +/- 0.5mm, but that's already enough to cause issues.

I had trouble extracting it too. Basically slid a credit card between the keep case and booklet, and then gave it one firm horizontal shake to loosen.
Must admit I think this is one of the best Blu-ray releseas in quite a while. Absolutely incredible PQ (that even shows the shortcomings of many of the rudimentary spcial effects), a great set of extras, and lovely premium packaging.
