I wonder if Breathless will be an August release? Breathless and Videodrome as reissues to bluray, mayhaps?

Breathless on blu-ray.

However, Studio Canal has released their own version.

Which kind of sucks. So glad Criterion is going to get to do this too.

Man, that interior packaging better be replicated somehow in the Blu-ray packaging

Seems like they swapped the details of DVD / BD for those two.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a Blu-ray sized version of the same digipak. They're using one for Brakhage.

Except Brakhage is 3 discs and therefore necessitated some sort of change. In contrast, I'm sure they'll fit everything from Breathless onto one. I would suggest telling Criterion on Facebook or by email if you feel strongly about how the packaging should be, because I still suspect they think we hate BD digipaks in any form.

That's a good point, though if Criterion decides to replicate the substantial booklet in their Blu-ray release of Breathless, they'll have to do something a little different anyway. As great as the design work on the DVD release is, I really like the plastic Blu-ray cases for most releases, so I won't be too disappointed if they go that route.

No matter how nice the digipaks are, one day they're going to look like my father's record collection. Don't know what they're going to do with Fanny and Alexander on blu.

Don't knock it...if he's a record collector, I'll bet he has a cool looking record collection.

i count 50 candles....that would appear to add weight to "Breathless" since it is the 50th anniversary of its 1960 release. I wonder if they'll finally join the DVD world at large and slather 50TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION!! Across the cover?!?!? ;)

like you, I think it's probably more a hint about a upcoming box set of Fanny & Alexander : the magic trick (fart inside): when children are amazed to see the candle extinguished itself (but I do not remember the cake).

Agreed. And I think digipacks truly look like collector's items, the kind that you'll fell lucky that you got and still have it 10 years from now. The plastic cases may be effective, but they're just all the some, every release has a plastic case. The digipack, on the other hand, lokks like something that was carefully designed for that specific release, and that's why I prefer it.

Maybe they will release L'avventura as well. It is also the 50th anniversary of that film.

There is a lot of heavy breathing in that film.
