2014 New Year's Day Drawing
With very little guess work at all (went one number up from the 3009 Chaplin post), I managed to find the new years clue a little bit early..
Too tired to attempt to identify anything, so you better have all the answers awaiting for me once I wake up.
Well, other than: Scanners, Red River, Red Sun (1971), Tati boxset, umbrella (of Cherbourg?), four beatles (didn't Ian say that A Hard Day's Night might have been up for grabs recently?), a California Raisin, and a beach party at what can only be Corman Beach

I'm fairly certain the Red Sun is Red Sun - don't know anything about it, but Criterion + Mifune = likely release.
Oh god, that better not be It's a Wonderful Life... I absolutely hate that film.
Also, one of the angels is wearing a Donkey Skin (Awesome, as its perhaps my favorite Demy film!)
Alright, I'll go to bed now.

Crit passes up all those Sony titles but goes after A Raisin in the Sun and possibly It's A Wonderful Life? Ugh

One of the Angel's looks somewhat Felliniesque -more voluptuous with possibly a fur stole? Is that a Sadako Ringu hairdo at the picnic?

Saul Bass' Phase IV (Yes, they look like beetles; but there's four of them and they're crawling towards a picnic. They might be supposed to represent ants.)

One last before I'm finally out of here for the night/morning.
Giant Garlic on the picnic blanket = That Les Blank Gilroy garlic documentary.
And perhaps I'm seeing things in my tiredness, but is that The Tingler wrapped around one of the angels?

On the Beach? Once the Kramer floodgates open, maybe they found it hard to stop.

The woman with the knife at the picnic reminds me of Sisters, but this might just be because I want more De Palma on bluray.
Re: Forthcoming Lists Discussion and Random Speculation Vol.
Instead of the saccharine "It's a Wonderful Life" perhaps the angel with the bell is a play on words with "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly"- I HATED that film personally though.
Remote chance: The Belles of St. Trinians. Although it's a charming film, I can't see it as a likely Criterion pickup, but until disproven it will be my remote possible choice for this clue as the film itself was an P-P Archers release and the rights are in flux after Searle's death at the end of 2012.

Also, the little markings on the ground by the picnicers look like little M. Maybe CC will be releasing the most recent restoration of M.

What's the deer behind the bush? Is the scrubbing out of blood Polanski's MacBeth?
