Issues with West Side Story. You may want to hold off on those pre-orders.

Amazon.ca has these blu-rays for pre-order for January 24. Not sure if they are only for Canada or some US store will get a store exclusive or Amazon.com just takes a long time to add them:
Notorious
Apartment
Rebecca
Manhattan
Annie Hall
Spellbound

Wow. Fingers crossed. My non-anamorphic disc of Annie Hall has been begging to be retired for years, the mere thought of a high def transfer of Manhattan is enough to make me swoon, and of course we all know that The Apartment is like the best film ever. Those Hitches would make nice companion pieces to the Criterion sets too.

I'd buy all of these if they're quality transfers. Fingers crossed.

MGM/Fox Japan is releasing The Apartment, Manhattan, Annie Hall on Feb 3rd, Universal is releasing To Kill A Mockingbird that day as well. All on BD for the first time. Other regions should be around then too.

I really hope this is true and that nothing gets indefinitely postponed; especially the Woody Allen ones. The fact that they also get released in Japan is getting my hopes up. Finally some Woody classics on Blu!

Any update on the recently issued "West Side Story" Blu Ray in the USA? Beaver gives only a preview. Digital Bits says the problems are going to be corrected. Does anyone know if the discs shipped by Amazon are of a corrected version?

I haven't heard anything new, but apparently Fox/MGM will provide a number that people who already purchased the set can call to get a replacement disc at some point. It doesn't appear that there are any plans to recall the first pressings, so we'll just have to keep our eyes and ears open to find out when the corrected discs go out for sale.

About freaking time. Wasn't Annie Hall already broadcast in HD (in 16:9)? I hope they make a better transfer for the Blu-Ray, but still, it's ridiculous it's taken this long when they've had an HD master in use for years.

FWIW, one big concern is the subtitled, 'inner-thoughts' scene - MGM botched this up on the DVD.

I just really wish Allen would get on the ball with special features. That's one of the biggest reasons I don't have any Allen movies in my collection. If it's a movie-only disc, a rental would just suffice. "Midnight In Paris" actually has a few extras surprisingly. Hopefully some more would come soon.

At the very least, he could chop out the early Diane Keaton and then the Annie Hall sections from his PBS doc and include those. Half-assed, yes, but I think most buyers would want something (even if it's previously released) than absolutely nothing.

Looks like Mockingbird comes to Region A on Blu on 31 January.

Annie Hall and Manhattan are coming to Blu-Ray in the US on January 24. Could Notorious and Rebecca be far behind?

The answer is No.

I'm very glad that this turned out to be legit.

Manhattan must be my most awaited Blu-ray ever.

Yeah, Canada is getting both Spellbound and Wilder's The Apartment on January 24th, and both are available for pre-order on Amazon.ca. Hopefully the U.S. announcements of those two are coming soon.

Spellbound finally added for preorder in the U.S. Still no sign of The Apartment south of the 49th parallel.

And I just bought that too! Oh well, at least I don't have to wait too long to upgrade.

The cover is terrible, but the fact that it reads Woody Allen collection sounds promising.

The Apartment looks like it's going to be a Best Buy exclusive in the U.S. for a while.
