Re: R.I.P. Party Down
I might cry about this news. I don't care what shows they all reunite on or whatever - there will never be a cast with this much chemistry under the circumstances of that show's plot ever again. Even the cast of Community can't hold a candle. I hope the film is five hours long.

Caught this the other night when I was watching Childrens Hospital and it took my by surprise. Just seeing them back in character gave me the biggest smile I've had all month.domino harvey wrote:Clip of the Party Down reunion from this week's Children's Hospital

Re: Party Down
Thanks for posting that because it reminded me I needed to get around to watching this show, found it on Hulu, and holy shit this is great!

Rob Thomas is a genius. There was a time in my life where I'd throw on Pepper McMasters Singles Seminar anytime I needed a laugh, and it's not even necessarily the best episode of the show!

Re: Party Down
They're all pretty good so far (only 8 eps in) but I'd be hard pressed to pick a favourite. That one is good (Begley steals it) but then each one--the HOA party, the conservative party, the porn award after party--has their own share of great moments.
Also enjoying all of the Veronica Mars "hey, that guy!" moments.
I'm annoyed with myself for putting off watching the show for [checks calendar] 10 years.

Re: Party Down
"Celebrate Ricky Sargulesh" and "Steve Guttenberg's Birthday" always seemed to be consensus faves. If there's one show where (logistics allowing) they could have spit out occasional reunion episodes it should have been this one; hopefully the delay means a decade's worth of ideas will make it our way.

"Celebrate Ricky Sargulesh" is my runaway favorite, so much so that any mention of it immediately makes me want to watch the episode again.

I'd recommend watching the Ryan Hansen webseries spinoffs then- it's great to see them come and go
Also, I've been revisiting The Ben Stiller Show recently, and was amused in an ep I watched last night where Stiller plays the 'annoying friend' in a dandruff shampoo commercial who parrots equally annoying taglines, only for one to be, "Are we having fun yet?"

Funny, my wife and I just finished a re-watch of this the other day. Yeah, it's still great.

Officially greenlit with most cast members expected to return, sans Lizzy Caplan due to scheduling conflicts

Re: Party Down
Finally got a chance to watch the third season (Starz free preview week, here) and scarfed ‘em like red sea urchin puffs. Instantly rewatchable crackerjack joy popped from sticky kernels of disappointment. As before. Most excuses to bring everyone back work and those that don’t are immediately forgiven. Old regulars slip in like they’ve never done anything else. Of the new regs, Jennifer Garner is likeably game, but Tyrel Jackson Williams and especially Zoë Chao spin gold from narrow characters in what little time they get.
The only meh ep is the Nazi one because it tries to bring too much to an already crowded room. But it does have Calum Worthy (captivatingly toxic in Joseph Kahn’s Bodied) and a fine new take on an old hit:
Wish Starz had something, anything else to justify subscribing to support this one show that drops six episodes every dozen years.
