Here's the trailer.

Interesting that we are getting just the first Tomie film rather than a boxset as with the Ring or Ju-On films. These films have not been released in the UK before (outside of the final entry, 2011's Tomie: Unlimited), though the first five films did get US DVD releases by Adness in the mid-2000s. Whilst the Arrow release is going to have a lot more extra features to discuss the film in detail, one thing the US DVD had was a half hour "Making Of" feature which I'll have to hold on to that disc for as it does not appear to be part of this release. That piece features an interview with Juni Ito (who mentions that he had a say in picking the main actress for the role - Miho Kanno, who a few years later appears in Takeshi Kitano's Dolls - and we also get to see him filming his uncredited cameo scene) and a fun moment in which the actress playing Tomie gets to place the iconic mole near to her eye, which segues into a discussion between her and the director over her throughts about the character. We then get some footage of the actress having her face mould taken, ready for all of the severed head gags in the film. Then another scene of prosthetic eye makeup for one of the supporting male members of the cast gets a section, along with filming of a scene that was later deleted involving a cardboard box with hair appearing from it, filming the climax, and the premiere at 1998's Tokyo Fantastic Film Festival during which Tomoroh Taguchi (who has a supporting role in the film), on stage and flanked by Ito and the director on either side of him, gets to cheekily say with tongue firmly in cheek: "The only thing I can say is, please look forward for Tomie's sequels: Tomie 2, Tomie 3, Tomie 5, Tomie vs Jason and Tomie vs Freddy!".

(Although compared to Freddy and Jason's respective franchises there are only eight sequels at this point in time, two of which also helmed by the same director as this one)
