Yesterday I came across the OOP Fantoma set in a store here in Norway for about $35. Is this set worth picking up, or can we expect a (better) re-release in the near future?

There is also a 5-disc French set, which contains in addition to the Lang film(s) the 1938 Richard Eichberg version (also two films), and I find the Eichberg version much superior to the Lang, and it's only available in the French set. The shortcoming seems to be that the subs are non-removable, though a simple re-burn might help that.

Re. the Fantoma - it's a phenomenal transfer - one of the best SD renderings of a film from that period. Don't know if the French disc is from the same source. (And I'm not sure if this is a plus or a minus, but I should add the disclaimer that I find the film(s) completely mediocre and the adoration for them inexplicable - and I still love the way they look in that set.)

I just imdb'd "Red Lion" and came back with Akage, starring Toshiro Mifune. I spent a couple of minutes trying to get excited about it and failed.

Thin Red Line makes WAY more sense.

I wonder how long they've been working on this? Ever since late last fall, after the November and December titles were announced, leaving a lot of people disappointed, they've only been inserting newsletter clues for discs two or three months down the line.

Edit: Announcement-wise, that is.

It's obvious that the lion is in a desert, look at the background! More than that he's hungry. Only problem, the desert is white. So I think it's White Desert !
