I wouldn't count on 699 tying in with the releases before or after it. I'm sure Wes Anderson simply requested spine 700 for Fantastic Mr. Fox, and it would have been in the 690s otherwise. He got 300 for The Life Aquatic, resulting in a similar spine number gap for a month or two.

Damn, all these are stacked editions too, excepting blue is the warmest color, which will get one eventually.

Impressive 2014 so far. Damn.

You guys should probably wait until after the Wexner talk on Tuesday before making your predictions. I actually wouldn't mind creating a list of good questions to ask over the weekend for people planning on either emailing or attending the event. Too many stupid people out there; could be a waste of a good opportunity.

Acording to imdb.com, Tess had an "original" run time of 184 minutes, yet Criterion lists 172 minutes, same as the original DVD release. Anyone know what was excised?

here's a question, When/If you upgrade Summertime to bluray, will you correct the aspect ratio or leave it incorrectly open matte?

CC should definitely be asked about the Children of Paradise fiasco and The Earrings of Madame D transfer. CoP came out prior to last years Wexner talk and no one asked then. They need to address this.

I hope people ask both open and closed ended questions instead of just about certain titles.

Don't say "Any chance for the Devils?". Instead say "Will Criterion release more Warner titles? The Devils in particular would make a great release."

Where can we ask questions for the Wexner Chat? I seem to remember last year that Wexner opened up the floor for questions via their Twitter account, although I could be mistaken.

Yes. I submitted a question about more Caidin titles last year via Twitter, and they confirmed that I Married a Witch and Foreign Correspondent were on the way.

Great. I'll probably end up asking about future Warner titles, assuming no one else beats me to it.

I know you like your major studio-owned/English language rumors and everything based on what you post, but will a question about releasing Glauber Rocha films or maybe about the ATG catalog (we know they have Oshima, but what about Terayama, etc?) be too "stupid" of a question to pass your test?

No need to be an asshole. I post about films that I know or have seen which are usually of the Hollywood variety. I have a huge collection of foreign language films but I've discovered most classic foreign films via Criterion blind buys. I'm sure may here could say the same. (Especially the younger crowd). Asking about Oshima is great.

I would prefer not to see questions like last year. I remember someone asking "The Jungle Book shows up as HD on iTunes when are you releasing it?" and Kim looking befuddled and saying something along the lines of "Uhh....I think we already released it? If not; we plan to?" This of course resulted in many people proclaiming that a blu of Jungle Book was forthcoming.

I haven't called anyone stupid or an asshole, was just wondering what you believe are "stupid" questions and why they would have to go through an internet agreement is all. Film taste is subjective and one would find my questions to be a waste of time because they would rather want to know if future Wes Anderson films will also be in the Criterion Collection. Just like how others would believe asking about some studio title is a waste of time compared to asking about the hold on releasing Rivette films.

But seriously, an ATG question is hopefully asked. Is this the first year Peter Becker will be at the Wexner thing?

It's pretty clear to me that Ian was indicating that you should phrase your question about whatever films and filmmakers interest you in a way that's going to result in a productive answer. No one suggested that a certain set of films or filmmakers was too stupid to be asked about, and I don't think that anyone's going to stop you from asking questions about Glauber Rocha, ATG, or anything else.

Well then can someone there ask in a productive way if the remaining Costa-Gavras titles are still in the works? I would appreciate that.

I know he didn't mean one shouldn't ask about whatever they want, and I also don't want to come off as an "asshole" to Ian. I am just pointing out that whatever he seems to be "stupid", a lot of people will see what he ask, I ask, or anyone else ask, to be a waste of time for what they want to hear as well (hence why I replied to his "too many stupid people" with what I did, as everyone has what they view to be important, and a waste of time). One could say there are too many wasted questions, and I should make up an 'important' list, but that comes off as "let's focus on these questions that I want answered". I am sorry to Ian.

My prayer have been answered... Jules and Jim at last! Thank you, thank you Criterion. I just hope that this version will have a corrected version of the scene that was reversed left-to-right. I can't remember which scene it was.

Damn fine month all round, I'd say. I'll even have to double dip on the Mr Fox disc.

Ian, or anyone else in the know, will either a videotaping of the chat or a transcript of discussions/announcement/Q&As be available on-line? Or will those of us who do not attend the chat need to rely solely on second-hand reports?

I have always wondered why Criterion has never licensed anything from Toei. So, if someone is watching the chat live and has an opportunity to ask a question, but doesn't have one of their own, ask them about that.

From Wexner Center:
No plans at the moment to lifestream but we will announce it if that changes.
