Black Angel’s a quality noir so I will take it but the decline of Academy does seem to continue.

Re: Arrow Announcements, Speculation & Wild, Irresponsible Conjecture
I imagine that Arrow he's waiting for Halloween to announce their January releases, since they usually make monthly announcements on the last Friday of the month but have not done so this month. Hopefully, it'll be an auspicious announcement.

They confirmed on Twitter they'll do them next week. They also confirmed there is a bunch of Arrow Films cheap barebones releases out on Oct 28th but Arrow Video releases will follow later (Ace Ventura, Last of the Mohicans, True Romance and Robin Hood). They said True Romance is the uncut version but the old existing master.

Before we get any overly enthused Richard Pryer fans, this is for José Ramón Larraz’s (already Arrow confirmed) slasher EDGE OF THE AXE which opens with a car wash kill.

Wow, surprised Arrow would release True Romance from the current abysmal remaster.tenia wrote: ↑Sat Oct 26, 2019 2:58 amThey confirmed on Twitter they'll do them next week. It could be the simple Arrow Films version uses it but the more complete Arrow Video one will use a newer master. Who knows ?

Never, but nor have they released a barebones supermarket version before they've released the proper Arrow Video release, only the other way round.

I bet it's a bad or mediocre noir title that doesn't need a standalone release.

So what’s exactly happening with True Romance? This begs for a new restoration of the caliber of Ronin, Donnie Darko, Being John Malcovic, etc.

Re: Arrow Announcements, Speculation & Wild, Irresponsible Conjecture
A Google Image search says this is French painter Jacques Aved, 1702-1766. If this is a tease for a film about the Roccoco period, they might have licenced:
Marie Antoinette (which doesn't seem to have a UK Blu-Ray)
The Lady and the Duke (Rohmer, UK DVD only released by Fox)
If it's not Roccoco, but another Noir, then Anthony Mann's Black Book/Reign of Terror would be an excellent choice (I don't know who owns it in the UK).

...of Abbe Prevost, who wrote Manon Lescault, which has seven film adaptations, hence Manon(s). A more knowledgeable sleuth might know which version is more likely to be released by Arrow.

Surely the Clouzot film? I can't see any of the others being dug out for a BD release.goblinfootballs wrote: ↑Wed Nov 13, 2019 6:36 pm...of Abbe Prevost, who wrote Manon Lescault, which has seven film adaptations, hence Manon(s). I mean, the Berri films have some clout (though they were already released by Shout) and I'd be down to see the Robison though it's probably not that

Hôtel du Nord (1938) and Manon (1949) are both coming to Arrow Academy.
Two buys from me.

Both of these releases look enticing. Has anyone seen either?

Hotel du Nord is very good. I guess they'll use the TF1 restoration, which was 2K, and which is good too.

Re: Arrow Announcements, Speculation & Wild, Irresponsible Conjecture
There are no informations regarding booklets on the Arrow site for these releases. Does this mean the end of the booklets for the Academy range?TMDaines wrote:Hôtel du Nord (1938) and Manon (1949) are both coming to Arrow Academy.

As with the physical product, they tend not to mention the existence of a booklet amongst the extras anymore, except for Limited Edition releases. Saves on printing costs/deleting a line of code, I guess.

Re: Arrow Announcements, Speculation & Wild, Irresponsible Conjecture
I was wondering the same why Limits of Control didn't have a booklet mentioned.
