A bit delayed, as I've just heard, but Philip Langridge.

Super depressing if you knew him from the Never Not Funny podcast, too.

Sad--just saw him as the witch in Hansel and Gretel at the Met on Christmas Eve, where he gave a delightful performance. And of course he's superb on the DVD of Birtwistle's Minotaur. A great loss.

I actually think i'll always remember him as Price the rat in Stalag 17. I always enjoyed hearing him narrarate those A&E biographies too. i just saw one of his reverse mortgage lender commercials earlier. but i'm glad he was able to live to see himself awarded a star on the Walk of Fame last October. RIP

Am I the only one who will remember him for that SNL sketch where Phil Hartman plays Peter Graves on his show "Discover"? His imitation was pretty spot on. Too bad it isn't anywhere on the internet.

I remember it. I really wish some cable network would start airing SNL reruns again.

Carol Marsh, according to the Classic Horror Film Board. She was the lovely star of Brighton Rock, and also appeared in Alice in Wonderland, Scrooge, and Horror of Dracula.

Evidently, he complained of pain today and died while the medics took him in. So sad. It's been a good time for him recently (33 1/3 book and Rhino box set) and now this happens. I hope he's resting well now. I threw on the 'Mats song for him and it'll be Third later tonight.

Damn, talk about a brain fart. Why didn't somebody mention the Box Tops? "The Letter" and "Cry Like a Baby" were huge party songs in my college days. And he was born two years after me. Shit!

Alex Chilton...I'm so devastated. I was listening to Like Flies on Sherbet today at the beach. AH! The music scene has been hit so hard recently...

Sad, sad news about Chilton. His legacy is secure, though. The second half of Radio City is one of the very few perfect album sides: if all that survived of 70s pop in 500 years time was 'Mod Lang', they'd have a pretty good idea what it was all about. But just about everything he did bears exploration, even when he was at his most fucked up.

I guess now he's adding his harmonies to a celestial rendition of 'I Am the Cosmos'.

Cool. He can now hang with Chris again. I'll put on some This Moral Coil in memoriam, as that's all I have here at work.

Whenever I think of that song, the TMC cover always comes to mind. What a legacy.
