It seems that Pat Jackson, the youngest of the directors who shaped the GPO Film Unit in the 1930s and who made his name with wartime documentaries like Western Approaches, died a month ago, on June 3.

her godfather was the veteran director John Ford
Had no idea, though coincidentally, I recently watched Ford's Gideon's Day (her screen debut), in which she was quite charming.

He was, honestly I feel like even in death I should say is, one of the few art scholars that didn't seem like 90% hot air and 10% stupid out of what I've encountered and it's a massive shame that he is no longer with us. That said I believe I heard of problems with his health as far back as last year so this is naturally better than suffering. It's really the rest of the world's loss more than his. I know it's a selfish sentiment, but god damn there's so many people less great walking about. At least he accomplished a few great things in his life.

Septuagenarians and bicycles: not a good combination. What a waste.

Sergeant John Sweet.

If you're going to have just one major film credit, make sure it's a memorable one.

Deranged seems strangely underrated in the cannon of 'films inspired by Ed Gein' (perhaps because it is a little too depressingly mundane and upsetting in the matter of fact way that it portrays its events), but Blossom really gives an excellent performance in that one, elevating it into something special.

Deranged is great and everyone who hasn't should check it out in his honor. It's definitely the forefather to Henry.

I absolutely love his work as Doc in Escape From Alcatraz.

Pretty much always my go-to guy (along with the late Richard Farnsworth) for kindly old coots. As noted above, he also played some foul bastards, as well.
