But it really does seem like the direction the Coens are wanting to go in. I don’t think you get that much stylistic consistency unless you’re getting a specific request. It’s never really been Criterion’s in-house art strategy to unify disparate titles like that, outside of box sets.

I really adore the symmetry of The Piano and The Power of the Dog covers but then those are both the same artist. Not sure it’s a Campion edict. Will be interesting to see if her other two titles ever get 4Ks if they get a cover change.

I like the flipped booklet for the Lewtons. Too bad they didn’t do a reversible cover. They always print the reverse side anyway so why not try it once?

Though deep down I knew it was unlikely, I was hoping for some sort of peel off like the early DVDs for The Killers and Lower Depths. Agreed that the booklet design was at least a nice touch.

It’s an RKO film and was not preserved nearly as well as, say, MGM or Warner Bros. films. Turner (and eventually Warner Bros.) only acquired the library in the 1980s. Given Howard Hughes’s complete mismanagement of the company during his ownership, it’s a miracle these films survived as well as they did.

The state of RKO elements is also what’s keeping the Astaire and Rogers films from being upgraded to Blu-ray.

Interestingly, I don't recall seeing much of anything along the lines of mold residue in The Seventh Victim other than subtle hints maybe, but it is evident during I Walked with a Zombie in a couple places, which they don't even mention. I could have missed it in Seventh on my first viewing, and planned on rewatching anyways, but if it was heavy enough for them to note it, I would have thought it would be very obvious.

I wonder if it was a mistake and they meant to note it for Zombie and put Victim instead?

The Grifters' cover seems terrible though. Nice..ideas, but clumsy execution, as usual. For one thing, it's the wrong shade of yellow. What, is the sun a ripe banana or something? (I think about this movie too often, as you can probably tell.)

The Grifters one is another Sister Hyde masterpiece.

The Grifters cover is actually growing on me but the text at the top and bottom touching the sunglasses makes it look cluttered. I'd have left a bit more space at both ends.

I do like the Winchester 73 and Pryor covers a lot.

Am I the only one who thinks Jimmy Stewart looks like Rock Hudson on that Winchester '73 cover?
