chaddoli wrote:From HBO:
HBO will remember George Carlin this week with encore presentations of many of his HBO specials. The specials span his association with the network, from his first HBO special (“George Carlin at USC”) to his last (“It’s Bad for Ya”).

“George Carlin: It’s Bad for Ya,” which debuted on the network in March, will be seen on the main HBO channel this Friday, June 27 at 9:00 p.m. (ET/PT).

In addition, HBO2 will present 11 of his specials over two nights. The HBO2 schedule is (all times ET/PT):

Wednesday, June 25
8:00 p.m. George Carlin at USC (1977)
9:30 p.m. George Carlin Again! (1978)
11:00 p.m. Carlin at Carnegie (1983)
midnight Carlin on Campus (1984)
1:00 a.m. Playin’ with Your Head (1986)

Thursday, June 26
8:00 p.m. What Am I Doing in New Jersey? (1988)
9:00 p.m. Doin’ It Again (1990)
10:00 p.m. Jammin’ in New York (1992)
11:00 p.m. Back in Town (1996)
12:05 a.m. You Are All Diseased (1999)
1:00 a.m. It’s Bad for Ya (2008)
The retrospective skips Life Is Worth Losing (2005) and Complaints and Grievances (2001), don't know why but still a classy act by HBO. I will be enjoying both evenings.
I think all but his last of his HBO specials are on Google Video, complete and uncensored.

You can see many of these, if not all, on YouTube.

Sorry for the lateness in mentioning this: screenwriter Rafael Azcona on the 23rd March.

He is credited with working on Mafioso and many of Marco Ferreri's films including The Harem and La Grande Bouffe and Bye Bye Monkey, Carlos Saura's Peppermint Frappé, The Garden Of Delights and ¡Ay, Carmela! and the Oscar winning Belle Epoque

Television actor Don S Davis, a familiar face even if the name doesn't register.

Thing I remember (albeit vaguely) was that he was one of John Lithgow's henchmen in Cliffhanger.

Seems like The Word of God: Or, Holy Writ Rewritten was his last ditch effort for getting issues off of his chest.

Elizabeth Spriggs

Mainly stage and, later, TV (a mainstay of BBC Costume Drama) - but she did get a BAFTA nomination for Sense & Sensibility.

Horrible, horrible news. I loved his sci-fi criticism. I guess I'll have to finish Camp Concentration this month.

Gene Wolfe and Samuel Delaney better not be on the reaper's 2008 list!

Great interview the late Sydney Pollack had with Elvis Mitchell on TCM, supposedly his last. Spoke about how Burt Lancaster was responsible for making him a director and how Dustin Hoffman was responsible for making him an actor again. Hopefully they'll repeat it sometime soon.

:( For more than ten years, I can't survive a day without watching a rerun of The Golden Girls. Estelle, you will always be a friend to me.

This is turning out to be an interesting series. Bill Murray was on the following week, and talked about Sydney when he did his role in Tootsie.
