My defense: "Discreet": reference to Discreet Charm.

It's amazing how awful a boxset that would be despite containing such great films. "Criterion is proud to present Three Films About Dinner". #-o

Not that it would even happen (legal snafus over films from multiple distributors being lumped into one box and all).

Ugh, I hope not. I'd rather it be it's own release.

It seems as though everyone has forgotten the film The Exterminating Angel - the two animals (the bear and the sheep) are featured creatures towards the end of the film. The discreet reference and many change of clothes are clearly hints at Bunuel and the fact that they never leave the room for many days.

It doesn't seem to be hinting at anything beyond Exterminating Angel. It is FOR SURE The Exterminating Angel.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but the two animals have already been brought to light as a pretty key reason for this release to be Exterminating Angel. The certainty of it being Exterminating Angel is not under dispute, but, as loose as the reference may be, "And many, many changes of clothing" does hold some weight to (what is already on the cards) The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover wherein, clothing changes in the blink of an eye depending on which room a character enters (If I remember correctly, Michael Gambon has a deep red shirt in the restaraurant but as he enters the kitchen it becomes lime green). My memory is a little hazy on the colour details, but taking into account that The Cook, The Thief... is expected (early) next year, it seems reasonable enough to take it as a possibility for a hint that does releate.

For those who are having trouble following along or who haven't bothered to read the last couple of pages in this thread, the growing consensus is that the clue is referring to both films, providing us with an UNPRECEDENTED DOUBLE CLUE IN THE CRITERION E-MAIL NEWSLETTER.
