Occasionally, people on this board will toss off "that looks like it took five minutes in Photoshop" to denigrate something that looks simple. It annoys me when this happens, because simplicity should not automatically be confused with laziness or lack of thought.

That said, that cover looks like it took 5 minutes in Photoshop. Friggin' clip art!

I'm just reading through this thread as I received my 'digibook' copy of The Big Parade today (I'd actually forgotten that I pre-ordered it months ago, so it was a nice surprise when it arrived!) and also noted this:

Complete Friday the 13th coming in September 13th (Friday)

Not that domino will be too bothered but having picked this set up too, it might be worth noting that it has been a little controversial. The original Friday The 13th film has been upgraded to its Unrated version but all of the other films remain their R-rated versions, which feels like a missed opportunity. By far the biggest omission from this new Blu ray set is the unrated version of Jason Goes To Hell: The Final Friday - I'm not too bothered as this is in my opinion by far the worst film of the series but the original New Line DVD contained both the unrated and R-rated versions on one disc, so it seems a little strange that it was dropped from the Blu ray, especially when the New Line discs of Jason X, Freddy Vs Jason and the remake seem to have had all of their extras ported over without a hitch. There are a lot of new features added to each of the Paramount films, though it does look as if the commentary from Part 3 has been dropped. I'm still going through everything though, so it could be lurking around somewhere!

Also I would put in a word of recommendation for the standalone documentary Crystal Lake Memories: The Complete History of Friday The 13th, a seven hour documentary by the filmmakers responsible for the four hour Nightmare on Elm Street series documentary Never Sleep Again, which should prove to be just as comprehensive as the Elm Street documentary was (for example covering the TV series as well as the films).

Re: that enormous JFK set from a few pages back - I'm surprised that while they were including PT109 on an extra disc that Warners didn't take fuller advantage of their New Line takeover and do a 'JFK life stories' set including Thirteen Days as well.

And finally, that cover for the UK Police Academy set one page back does look pretty bad, mostly because of not using the iconic title font and instead going for a wackier, and more generic, 'comedy' treatment of the title.

I still remember being a little upset that my parents didn't take me to the cinema to see Police Academy 7: Mission To Moscow (bizarrely I seem to remember that we were passing by a cinema advertising it whilst on a family holiday in Scarborough!) because I had heard that Christopher Lee was in it. In retrospect I thank my parents for sparing me from seeing the final death throes of the series in the cinema! For the record though, I remembered finding Police Academy 4 and 5 great, undemanding (but slightly naughty, with the ever present threat/promise of boobs) fun as a kid!

For some reason the summer daycare joint I was thrown into rented Police Academy 6: City Under Siege for all us kids to watch and despite not having seen it since, I still vividly remember several aspects of it, which already puts me in the minority. I can't remember if anyone liked it, though I'm certain it went over better than the other screenings of kid-friendly hits that summer like Young Guns II and Madhouse (the Larroquette/Alley one)

By far the biggest omission from this new Blu ray set is the unrated version of Jason Goes To Hell: The Final Friday - I'm not too bothered as this is in my opinion by far the worst film of the series but the original New Line DVD contained both the unrated and R-rated versions on one disc, so it seems a little strange that it was dropped from the Blu ray, especially when the New Line discs of Jason X, Freddy Vs Jason and the remake seem to have had all of their extras ported over without a hitch.

I suspect there's no HD version of the uncut Jason Goes to Hell currently available, and who knows how good of a condition the scenes are from an elements standpoint. Probably a decision to not spend the $ to recreate it HD, similar to the Star Trek: The Motion Picture Director's Cut situation.

Except for the Blu-ray, the uncut version of Jason Goes to Hell has been released on every format, so the elements are fine. The HD digital copy of it is the uncut version, but looks to be an older master, so WB has no excuse for not including it on the Blu-ray.

the other screenings of kid-friendly hits that summer like Young Guns II

This kind of blows my mind. I saw a good chunk of it for the first time a few years ago, as it wasn't really something I remember seeing as a kid. Other than the last third of it being a kind of Cliff's Notes version of the Peckinpah movie, it was noticeable to me because it had probably one of the most gratuitous shots of nudity of a PG-13 movie of that time. How movies with that rating got away with it around then is a mind-blower as well.
