HA! I thought Fogerty put all that behind him, but I guess it's possible he's rocking out right now.

I didn't realize he was sick. I had been revisiting the Everlys later, partly because of that awful tribute album by Armstrong and Jones. (They could've at least picked a better album to cover like Roots or their debut.) I was actually wondering if they were doing anything lately.

He seems to have little bitterness about it all now (he even spoke about reuniting with the surviving CCR members, but they still hold their own grudge it seems), especially since he started doing his old songs in concert again. How much of that extended to Saul I don't know, but I wouldn't blame him for still holding a little grudge. On top of the indignity of having to be sued for sounding like himself, I do remember the special he did on VH1 where he said his brother Tom's last words to John before he died was that "Saul Zaentz is my best friend".

EDIT: I guess he is rocking out...
Based on Facebook and Twitter posts on his official pages following the news of Zaentz’s death last night, Fogerty is hardly in a forgiving mood. Instead, he simply posted a link to the official ‘Vanz Can’t Dance’ video, complete with animated dancing pigs.

Damn, he's just like Fontaine where I thought he had been around so long I figured he'd never go.

You can't say he didn't live a life. The guy was still officially working up until three years ago.

Clicking this link now, it appears that Johnnie, like Al Goldstein before her, has temporarily rejoined the living.

They only got a two-count on her.

If I'm not mistaken, he appears in D.A. Pennebaker's 1 P.M. as well.

I haven't. There's a US DVD which I tried and failed to get hold a few years back, and it changes hands for silly money nowadays. It's a film that BFI Flipside might want to consider releasing on disc.

It's a British-made film, but I wouldn't have thought it was culturally British enough to qualify for a Flipside release.

Haha I don't disagree with you on this one particularly but that is a hell of way to start a shitstorm.

Why don't I just nip that shitstorm in the bud by saying any uncivil posts will be deleted immediately.

Claudio Abbado.

Obviously, he made an infinitely greater contribution to music than to cinema, but plenty of films benefited from his indirect input.

Damn. His recording of Prokofiev's Alexander Nevsky score is stunning and the reason I can't watch the film anymore (seriously, buy that recording guys!). I also really enjoy his version of Beethoven's 7th with the Wiener Philharmoniker. He plays the second movement a bit slower and the fourth at a whirlwind pace--exactly how I like it.
