I was just watching After Dark, My Sweet, looked up George Dickerson, and saw that he passed away last week. He gives one of my favorite line readings in Blue Velvet, and can also be seen in the underrated Psycho II.

Anne Kirkbride, died age 60, exclusively known for playing Deirdre Barlow since age 18 (!) on Coronation Street. In the 90s, her character was wrongly jailed, a storyline that caused so much dismay around Britain that then PM Tony Blair was moved to ask in the House of Commons for her release.

I also had not realised that Mazzola was also the editor on the first film that Peter Fonda directed: The Hired Hand.

Ernie Banks hit over 40 Home runs 5 out of 6 seasons following his rookie year, including two MVP seasons. 40+ Homers was relatively unheard of from a shortstop in the 50's.
His 512 career Homers are more than Lou Gehrig or Stan Musial and almost as much as Ted Williams. Even in the steroid era, not many players have crossed the 500 HR plateau. Too bad the Cubbies were such perennial sad sacks.

I didn't realize he went to the University of Chicago.
At least according to BaseballReference.com. I couldn't find out anything about his college days from some quick searching.

Yes, it's hard to disentangle Demis Roussos from the mention of him in Mike Leigh's classic TV film Abigail's Party, in which Alison Steadman playing the title character seemingly on a determined quest to create the ultimate 1970s evening party in spite of her guests regularly uses "Do you like Demis Roussos?" as her opening conversational gambit!

The Roussos ballad A Flower Is All You Need also turned up as the slightly incongruous title song to Aldo Lado’s Last House On The Left inspired horror film, Night Train Murders!
