Definitely worth seeing, especially since it will presumably be in the correct Academy ratio instead of the 1.66 of the French Cahiers disc

And I'm glad I saw your post beforehand because having seen a rip from the DVD I might've assumed it was the wrong aspect ratio because the 35mm print was indeed shown in Academy ratio. I was already fan but I loved it even more the second time around, and I imagine seeing it properly in a theater probably helped.

Petit Paysan, which is not circulating with any English subs and came recommended by some native French viewers in our Cesar Awards thread, is screening (with subs) for free next week at Cultural Center of the Lycée Francais de New York

On January 12th at the Metrograph, John Huston's THE AFRICAN QUEEN screens ONE TIME ONLY on a 35mm IB Tech print courtesy of the Constellation Center Collection at the Academy Film Archive. Stephen Bogart (the only son of Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall) will be in attendance.

So they are doing the same thing they did for Bergman's TV series, where they are charging separate admissions for the different parts. What on earth gives for this? Who would only pay for one part of a film?

A bunch of Classic Hollywood by way of Costumes by Edith Head playing at MOMI. The standout here is Marnie on 35. If it's the same print that Lincoln Center showed in November, it is beautiful, and given the state of this on BD, definitely the way to catch it.

I'm not familiar with their ticketing system, but I imagine it's easier to have people buy separate tickets for specific screenings of each part than to have them buy a single "master ticket" for both parts and then choose which of the numerous screenings they plan to attend.

Roxy Cinema has been promoting a bunch of films in 35mm recently and don't seem to announce far enough in advance. Tonight Bertolucci's The Dreamers in 35. Anybody been there? Is the theater good?

They have two more Bertoluccis in 35mm, and also two Malicks in the format. Makes me wish I lived in NYC

I've never been there for an advertised 35mm screening, but I did go to see Running on Empty there, and they screened a full frame DVD, so I've always been weary about returning. Also, the theater is free to all of the Roxy Hotel's guests, so you frequently have people wandering in, making noise, trying to figure out what's on the screen. But it's a nice theater space otherwise, and I thought it was fun to go see a movie in a fancy location like the Roxy Hotel.

I know they had Abel Ferrara there last year to present two of his films, so that's pretty cool.
