Allegro is on Minerva's website. If I'm not mistaken, Raro is Minerva's home video arm. So, probably Kino in the US and Radiance in the UK.

Criterion has restored Devdas, Do Bigha Zamin, Madhumati, and Bandini according to Film Heritage Foundation.

Re: Criterion Discussion and Random Speculation Volume 7
On Sunday I was watching the Let's Get Physical Media show on youtube while I did some laundry and Robert Burnett was talking about Barry Lyndon and he seemed to hint that Criterion had the two remaining unreleased on UHD Kubricks. I don't think he was aware that a festival screening of the Criterion restoration of Lolita has already been announced. So it might be safe to assume they also have Eyes Wide Shut.

Since they also have the rights to the MGM Kubrick titles, I wonder if they will release all those titles in a 4K set.

Since they have relationships with Universal and Sony too, so why not dream big, a complete Killer's Kiss to Eyes Wide Shut set. ('though that would probably piss off the people that have already picked up the Barry Lyndon UHD.)

Criterion Discussion and Random Speculation Volume 7
They released a Bergman BD (don’t remember which) just a few months before announcing the Bergman box, so they have a precedent already.

It'll probably never happen, but a Criterion of The Shining with both cuts, original audio, and the proper aspect ratio for both cuts would be amazing.

I think it was Scenes from a Marriage that they released a couple of months before the boxset.Matt wrote: Thu Jul 24, 2025 6:41 pm They released a Bergman BD (don’t remember which) just a few months before announcing the Bergman box, so they have a precedent already.
Do you have a timestamp?dwk wrote: Thu Jul 24, 2025 4:32 pm On Sunday I was watching the Let's Get Physical Media show on youtube while I did some laundry and Robert Burnett was talking about Barry Lyndon and he seemed to hint that Criterion had the two remaining unreleased on UHD Kubricks. Didn't they release The Virgin Spring just before they announced the set?
No, I didnt pay attention to the time. I think it was early, before Max Allan Collins showed up. It should be easy to find just scroll through until you see him hold up a copy of Barry Lyndon

This was my first thought. I hope Eyes Wide Shut gets the Criterion treatment, but it seems far more likely that the two titles are The Killing and Paths of Glory.yoloswegmaster wrote: Thu Jul 24, 2025 4:59 pm Since they also have the rights to the MGM Kubrick titles, I wonder if they will release all those titles in a 4K set.

No, he was talking about the 2 unreleased on UHD Warner titles. He may have even explicitly said Lolita and Eyes Wide Shut, I can't remember.
George Feltenstein showed him a list a couple weeks back of 50+ UHD releases in the works from various WB licnesees.

My apologies! Thank you for the clarification. In that case, you've just made me really excited for their eventual releases.

I think that was it because I remember feeling relief at not having bought whatever it was. I'm not a fan of The Virgin Spring, but I would definitely have bought Scenes from a Marriage.dwk wrote: Thu Jul 24, 2025 7:04 pm Didn't they release The Virgin Spring just before they announced the set?

No biggie. I will say I had reasons I asked if anyone had heard any rumblings about Lolita five days before the screening of the restoration was announced and those also kinda apply to Eyes Wide Shut.RSTooley wrote: Thu Jul 24, 2025 7:38 pm My apologies! Re: Criterion Discussion and Random Speculation Volume 7
Tony Richardson’s ‘Look Back in Anger’ is currently on Turner Classic Movies and opens with the Criterion Collection logo.
Hopefully, other Woodfall films are also headed into the Collection:
The Entertainer (previously on laserdisc)
Saturday Night & Sunday Morning
The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner
The Charge of the Light Brigade (a long shot).

The Entertainer has been rumored for a while & the Uk blu-ray of those titles have been available for a while. If Kino had them they probably would have released them by now, Darling too.

The Entertainer has been kicking on (hbo)Max for awhile now, too, but why Darling hasn't been flagged for US R1 BD soil is still totally perplexing (MGM).

Re: Criterion Discussion and Random Speculation Volume 7
Wasn't there a UK box featuring all the big name kitchen sink titles (BFI?) before they got individual blu-ray releases? Would be a great way for Criterion to get out a bunch that they've probably been sitting on for a while now.

Criterion is sitting on so many titles not available on English friendly Blu-ray, they presumably don’t want to invest resources on films that already received extras-dense HD releases elsewhere

If Criterion is going to release an early 60s British new wave film they should re-release their
own title This Sporting Life since the only blu-ray is the long OOP edition that (the now
defunct) Network brought out years ago

Re: Criterion Discussion and Random Speculation Volume 7
At this stage in the game though it would make sense for them to release them on UHD, which would make them both an upgrade from any existing and attractive globally.

Is this the appropriate place to ask the noob question of are there any OOP blurays we can expect to come back soon? I want their copy of Nashville but I don’t want to spend 100$ on Nashville.

Re: Criterion Discussion and Random Speculation Volume 7
The Paramount release is supposed to be nicer for the feature (newer resto) and is less than $15 on Amazon. I would stick with that until a 4k comes along. But if you must have the CC, I doubt it is returning soon, so you’d have to pay the premium.Mr.DarjeelingLimited wrote: Mon Jul 28, 2025 9:49 pm Is this the appropriate place to ask the noob question of are there any OOP blurays we can expect to come back soon? Re: Criterion Discussion and Random Speculation Volume 7
BFI did a Woodfall films blu ray box set a few years back. I believe the set stopped at Mademoiselle, if I’m not mistaken, and didn’t include post-1966 Woodfall films, like The Sailor from Gibraltar; The Charge of the Light Brigade; Laughter in the Dark; and Ned Kelly. If Criterion could, at the very least, release the same set in 4K UHD, that would be great. However, there’s probably not much of a demand these days for these films.
