Oh wow, acid flashback: I now vaguely remember being surprised at hearing the Beatles on the soundtrack when I saw this twenty years ago or so, but I have no idea where in the film it was (one of the 'home movie' montages?). Or this could all be the power of suggestion.

Tim Streeter's so good in this, I was surprised I hadn't seen him in anything else, but a search on Google immediately turned up a LinkedIn profile that looks exactly like him (albeit older), still based in Portland but working for Meta as a "hearing scientist." I guess he went off to a different career, which is kind of a shame, but at least it looks like he's doing fine.

Went on Letterboxd to log this and was surprised that so many reviewers seemed to have had the films message of wrongful exploitation fly right over their heads. This might be the most widely misunderstood film in the whole collection. Van Sant has made it explicitly clear that Walt is not a good guy and uses and exploits immigrants for his own fetishistic gain. Almost every reviewer seems to not have been watching close enough to have seen this or choosing to ignore it anyway.
