Stefan, do you know where I can access archival materials around Soviet films, specifically archival reviews of them since there doesn’t seem to be many good resources cataloguing them that I could find?

Hi, I googled this and found these Russian-language sites, which may be of help, though they seem to mix recent both non-Russian and Russian films:

https://www.kino-teatr.ru/kino/art/pr/
https://www.film.ru/topic/review

I googled using these phrases from Google Translate:
рецензии на фильмы русские фильмы (movie reviews Russian movies)
рецензии на советские фильмы (movie reviews Soviet films)

English-language sites:
https://cinefiles.bampfa.berkeley.edu/? ... viet+Union
https://cinefiles.bampfa.berkeley.edu/? ... eration%29
These pages usually have reviews, festival reports, articles and other texts.

Searches for Russian and Soviet Union movies on ImdB turn up these examples of external reviews and metacritic reviews:
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0096841/ex ... at_op_exrv (Asthenic Syndrome)
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0024402/ex ... at_op_exrv (Outskirts, Barnet)
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0072443/ex ... at_op_exrv (Mirror, Tarkovsky)
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0072443/cr ... _at_op_crv (Mirror, Tarkovsky)
User reviews on ImdB are accessible via personal login (recent change, used to be freely accessible)

Hope this helps!

UCLA is uploading student short films from the 60s to their YouTube channel

The short named after Pauline Kael’s book was lame but I really liked Wendy, with Mary Jo Weir (later to become Deschanel) looking every bit her daughters’ mother:

Also the bookstore has one piece of punny graffiti that I bet Godard would have loved

Opus One is the Collin Higgins film I mentioned in the Harold and Maude thread. Just brilliant

Has anyone had any success getting corrections made to IMDB?

I'm trying to get "Roald Dahl" removed as an "uncredited writer" in the Crew listings for Jacques Rivette's 1956 film "Coup du Berger". As Snopes points out in their "Spoils of Whore" post (https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/spoils-of-whore/), the hoary "wife tries to smuggle in lover's gift of fur coat through found pawnshop ticket" trope has been around since at least 1939. Roald Dahl's story "Mrs Bixby and the Colonel's Coat" (which also uses this trope) wasn't published until 1959, three years after "Coup du Berger" release. I had seen the trope in a form much closer in detail to "Coup du Berger" in the 1960 Cary Grant film "The Grass Is Greener" (which in turn was adapted from a play that opened December 2, 1956 in London) a mere two weeks earlier. This play is three years earlier than Dahl's use of the trope.

And yet Dahl, who was listed in IMDB as an "uncredited writer" on this film despite no evidence, cannot be removed as an "uncredited writer" because "there is not enough evidence".

Anyway, I have a number of other corrections to file, but IMDB's "standards" of evidence seem a bit opaque. Has anyone had any luck with them ,or advice to offer?
