Not much to go by yet, but that looks like it could be one gorgeous cover.

I'm going to go ahead and predict that Sam Smith is responsible for this Phantom Carriage art.

So am I the only one suspecting a Cris cuervos... blu ray coming? All the materials they've posted about it on the site lately seems to be an obvious tell.

BTW, with Phantom Carriage being announced this week, should I assume Wild Strawberries will be too?

I figured that, but I would be even more psyched for more Saura or Geraldine Chaplin since they gave her her own profile this week too (specifically Remember My Name).CSM126 wrote:So am I the only one suspecting a Cris cuervos... blu ray coming? Perhaps Peppermint Frappé? IFC has aired it several times over the last couple of years with a Janus logo. It's also screening on TCM in a few weeks.Professor Wagstaff wrote:I figured that, but I would be even more psyched for more Saura or Geraldine Chaplin since they gave her her own profile this week too (specifically Remember My Name).CSM126 wrote:So am I the only one suspecting a Cris cuervos... blu ray coming? A three disc edition of Tiny Furniture, with a collectable miniature tuffet included.

I don't know, lately they've been tweeting a lot more Mulholland Drive related stuff than they should be. Somekind of a 10th anniversary edition from Criterion would not be surprising.

Please make this so! There are many Lynch possibilities, like Lost Highway, Eraserhead, and INLAND EMPIRE. By the way, did Criterion ever put out a laserdisc for Eraserhead, or was that just rumored?
Still, I'm pumped for Three Colors!

Re: Criterion Facebook and Twitter
Eraserhead was planned but never released. Long story short, Lynch was happy to work on it, but only without any time constraints, so he made sure they didn't try to set a deadline. And then someone leaked a false "release date" rumor and Lynch freaked out, assuming Criterion had done it to pressure him to hurry up. And he bailed, taking the movie with him.Gary Gnu wrote:... did Criterion ever put out a laserdisc for Eraserhead, or was that just rumored?
At least that's the story I've always heard. If Criterion have acquired his films (which seems somewhat likely with Lynch's self-produced Green box going OOP and his distributors looking elsewhere), I wonder if Lynch will participate (assuming the story above were true). The again, I suppose he could just fork over all the stuff from the Green box and leave it at that.

Re: Criterion Facebook and Twitter
That's a cool story and I've never heard about that. It makes sense, since Lynch really hated what had become of Dune as soon as time restraints were introduced. The Green Box was actually pretty good, but way over priced. I didn't know it went out of print. More importantly, when exactly did it get discontinued? If it was really recent, then the odds of seeing a Criterion edition of one of those works are pretty good. Let's keep the Busey coming with the release of Lost Highway! Sorry, I just got Insignificance; and I absolutely love Gary Busey in that movie.
Thanks for explaining the Eraserhead laserdisc, though. It explains a lot; and I'll take it as truth.

Has there been anything that indicates that Criterion could possibly have gotten back the rights to The Killer?

Or acquired the rights to distribute Brian De Palma's Carrie from MGM for that matter?Askew wrote:Has there been anything that indicates that Criterion could possibly have gotten back the rights to The Killer?

I'd like a boxed set of Carrie, Fury, and Dressed to Kill, myself. They could call it "Brian de Palma: Female Problems".

Or they could put out a release called Female Trouble and forget about De Palma. What A Disgrace wrote:I'd like a boxed set of Carrie, Fury, and Dressed to Kill, myself. They could call it "Brian de Palma: Female Problems".

I may have missed something but I'm pretty sure all they're doing is adding all of the specs and artwork for their laserdisc releases to the site, which would be cool.

Re: Criterion Facebook and Twitter
This could indicate that Criterion has taken more of an interest in regaining the rights to their laserdisc titles. They've been doing it gradually, so maybe they want to up the ante. I want them to regain the rights to Last Tango in Paris pronto. I need to see the original four-hour long cut! (Oh, and it's basically my favorite movie.)cdnchris wrote:I may have missed something but I'm pretty sure all they're doing is adding all of the specs and artwork for their laserdisc releases to the site, which would be cool.

Where Are They Now: swimminghorses posts several more fake covers to Facebook...where they are universally well received. Brings up the forum without being prompted, calling it "tedious," "elitist," and (sarcastically) "friendy" [sic].
