FYI, Plaion and LSP in Germany restored Cronenberg’s Scanners and The Brood, so these could pop up elsewhere too and Radiance could surely license them if available.

Yeah but that’s an 80s title.

I don't see Cronenberg on Radiance personally but I could be wrong. I'm extremely convinced Daughters of Darkness will be the 70s horror UHD, it just makes sense as a Radiance title. I tend to think Cronenberg will go to Arrow, maybe Second Sight

I'm very pleased Le Notti Bianche will be coming from Radiance. again, I think we're at the point with this label where certain titles just "make sense" as Radiance titles, and that's definitely one

As much as I will appreciate it being Le Notti Bianche, given Radiance has some sort of deal with Shochiku based off them releasing The Eel, how do we know it’s not Kurosawa’s The Idiot?

That would be great!

Am I the only one who would be very disappointed by one of the 4 Radiance UHDs (Daughters of Darkness) being one that has a great 4K release already?

Since the UHDs are dual format releases, the BD rights have to be available to Radiance too, whether it's UK alone or both countries. A Ganja and Hess BD is still in print through Kino in the US. Daughters is also still available through Blue Underground in both formats. The horror masterpiece and French extremity title are on the New Years tease but not mentioned specifically in the US bundle list yolos shared, so those feel like UK exclusives. Second Sight's The Brood BD is still in print so I have to agree with ryan that I don't think it's that.

I’ve been doing some research for what the MAL word clue could be and I think the best possible fit could actually be Malila: The Farewell Flower which also works with the slow cinema hint if the Letterboxd reviews are anything to go by.

Do we know for certain whether or not the 4K UHD titles will be dual-format? The other possibility is that the feature will be exclusively in 4K UHD only, with the supplemental materials on Blu-ray, though I’d imagine that option would be far less economically feasible for the label.

The 4Ks are I believe dual-format, based on the announcement page.

Radiance has issued a few Shichoku titles already, so The Eel does not seem to be a ground-breaker in that respect.

This is how the 4K releases will look like:

I am happy with this, as I am tired of releases with oversized boxes. I don't have that type of shelf space anymore!

Did anyone mention Man Bites Dog for the controversial French classic yet? It used to be with Tartan.

That’s not French though unless they mean only French language.

Something tells me the Claudia Cardinale masterpiece will be Zurlini’s Girl With a Suitcase.

Also, could La Notti Bianchi be one of the UHD titles possibly? They specified a be 70s horror film and a Nee French Extremity title, but they say up to four in all across the year will be UHD.

I’m not sure what the Palme d’Or winner would be. They’ve already released two, Viridiana and The Eel.

Unless one of the UHDs is both a Palme d’or winner and New French Extremity (I.e. Titane). I was also wondering if it could be Trouble Every Day. Or a Gaspar Noé film.

Second Sight is still selling their editions, so unless their rights are literally just about to expire, I suspect they're not available.

As for the animation title, if it is what I think it is, it doesn't overlap with anything from Deaf Crocodile.

Won't the Palme d'Or winner just be The Eel? I suppose other possibilities would be Eternity and a Day (Angelopolous has always been high on Fran's wish list but the last update was that there had been no response from his estate), Yol, or a UK Blu release of Pialat's Under the Sun of Satan.

One more guess for the Animation title, maybe it could be Consuming Spirits by Chris Sullivan since it seems that it’s been neglected on home video despite it’s labor of love status.

Very strong possibility, Cinecittà just unveiled a 4K restoration so it's likely a brand-new master is ready to go.

Eternity and A Day is apparently off the table right now, as is Landscape in the Mist due to the estate.

That would be great. I’d love The Mouse and His Child, too

Princes et Princesses for animation would be wonderful.

Unless there's something I missed in the Discord, the last time Fran commented on this was two years ago - when he said similar about titles that have since been announced (The Eel).

My first thought about the Palme d’Or winner was The Mattei Affair. It’s been restored for years, but I think there’s been some issue over the rights.

Does the US/CA bundle have fewer films than the regular one? My guess is 'yes' since the pricing is so different, but I figured to be safe and ask here.

It would exclude UK-only releases
