Re: Radiance Films General Discussion & Wishlist
Radiance's twitter just confirmed Takashi Miike is getting a release next year! anyone have any ideas which one? I know they attempted to license Visitor Q but it fell through, maybe they worked out a new deal?

Re: Radiance Films General Discussion & Wishlist
Radiance tweeted a happy birthday to Takashi Miike and said they are releasing something of his next year. As far as I know, this is the first preview for 2026 (other than the suggestion that one of their planned 2025 titles, probably Godard's Histoire, had been pushed back).

Really hope the Korean title is The People in White (1995)

Re: Radiance Films General Discussion & Wishlist
The October announcements had six films between three 'flagged' countries (I don't recall such a hint for November), I'd be surprised if at least one of these flags isn't two movies. As such, Why Has Bodhi-Dharma... AND The People in White would be fantastic.
The Italian is almost certainly a certain wintry Visconti film, assuming it's just one Italian film.

Yes, assuming the Italian title is Le notte bianche, which would imply the French and/or Korean release will be a box set, or at least a double-bill.
If the Korean title isn't the suggested Bae Yong-kyun double-bill, perhaps it'll either be a Yu Hyun-mok double-bill (e.g. Aimless Bullet, An Empty Dream), or a small Kim Ki-young set (e.g. Goryeojang, Woman of Fire, Insect Woman, Promises, Ieoh Island, A Woman After a Killer Butterfly)? Also might be quite fun to see a small set of 1960s Korean horror (e.g. The Devil's Stairway, A Bloodthirsty Killer).
French-wise, don't expect it'll be Histoire(s) du cinema as that was reportedly delayed to next year now, but still curious what that could be. I'm sure it'll be brilliant whatever it turns out to be!

Re: Radiance Films General Discussion & Wishlist
The bundle package teased "a South Korean classic" so, unless that was in error, I would expect a single Korean film.
Aimless Bullet is one we know they've been interested in; I could also see them doing Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter...and Spring or a Jang Sun-woo

It's about time Park Kwang-su's 1990s films got some attention: at least three classics there to choose from.

Wow, Radiance really went on a generational run of releases this year, didn’t they?

The Last Bridge / Die Letzte Brücke seems like an odd choice to use to identify Maria Schell— could this be forthcoming from Radiance?

Re: Radiance Films General Discussion & Wishlist
I asked regarding whether a deal was struck with KOFA and the response was "We did work it out eventually. Much back and forth but we got there in the end. And it's not the only one from a previous list to have come unstuck...!"
So, Aimless Bullet would seem a good bet for 2026.
It also seems potentially significant that Lee Chang-dong is on the extras, considering that the recent restorations are still unaccounted for in the UK.

I'd like that (or any more Kautner) but I suspect there's not much more to it than it being the film for which she won Best Actress at Cannes. And is subsequently the first mentioned on her Wikipedia page.domino harvey wrote: Wed Sep 03, 2025 12:11 pm The Last Bridge / Die Letzte Brücke seems like an odd choice to use to identify Maria Schell— could this be forthcoming from Radiance?

Appreciate the context. I wouldn’t say it’s what she’s most well known for these days, though, considering it’s her 17th most popular film on Letterboxd

Re: Radiance Films General Discussion & Wishlist
Also worth noting Mist is mentioned in the blurb for Splendid Outing, though I suppose they would've made it a double-bill if they already had that as well.
The Conformist mentioned again in the Une femme douce blurb, but I imagine that'd come through Raro Video, and would presumably need a complete regrade (a lot of people seemed unhappy with the restoration).

I briefly considered Imprint as a possible dark horse.
Though I haven't gotten any of their releases, I'm forgetting what exactly they have released/planned, and of course some of it will turn out to be their usual polished turds.

I love how the new Dirty Arthouse ‘zine discusses Kissed. That would be an incredible title for Radiance to tackle, and it’s still MGM

I was thinking awhile ago that Kissed would fit well with either Radiance or Canadian International Pictures. I believe it's only been on VHS and DVD.

Re: Radiance Films General Discussion & Wishlist
Criterion is the only label that even comes close, and they clearly have way more resources to work with and releasing far more 'popular' fare. It's amazing what Radiance is doing.domino harvey wrote: Wed Sep 03, 2025 10:40 am Wow, Radiance really went on a generational run of releases this year, didn’t they?

I asked Radiance about the De Minimis Exception lift and the duties. Their response is below:

Thanks for reaching out. We still have not heard clear communication on how the tariffs may impact us yet, so we have withheld making a definitive statement until we can confidently state our position. However, at the moment we are sending out orders to U.S.A. with DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) Shipping, meaning that any extra taxes/import fees will be absorbed by us the sender. Customers who have already placed orders will not have to pay any extra charges, and so we will be sending out our September orders as normal. The situation is still precarious and subject to change but you should not have to pay any extra fees for this order at least (which should be shipped to you soon).

Well in this specific instance then, tariffs are actually working how Trump explains them 8-[

As Bruno said, things could change past the September orders.

They're doing a sale on standard editions now, and in the email about standard editions, it has a new clue at the bottom: "Next month, a meeting on a bridge."

I made the same mistake, it’s the clue from last month for the Visconti in December
