This is the best cover this movie could ever get. Only thing that would improve it would be adding the McD's arches in the background and to include commentary by Paul Rudd

It probably is funny, but a bit less when one remember this is a cheap thing it's packaging, but a $45 UHD deluxe release. In this case, this just looks kinda ugly, not because it seems fitting for an ugly movie, but because the drawings just don't look that good. It's OK, it happens. The Curious Sofa wrote: Wed Jul 16, 2025 6:33 amThe Mac and Me cover at least reflects how grotesque the actual movie is instead of packaging it as a sentimental favourite. I think its pretty funny.
As for A History of Violence, yeah, I guess even here has some kneejerk reflexes when it comes to more unconventional approaches, but while I'm fine with this one, I also believes that not all unconventional approaches work, simply because the idea might be better than its execution. Again, it's OK, it happens.

Yeah, if the mods don't mind the work, this thread should really be for the worst of the worst. And God bless the BFI, but that Potemkin abomination easily qualifies.

Can't do it every month, but did move discussion of A History of Violence over to the dedicated cover art thread where it belongs.

Re: Worst DVD Covers...ever! (Part 4K)
Pretty much every Blu-ray in this series has a laughably awful cover, but these two really stood out.
First up, Václav Vorlíček's The Girl on the Broomstick, a delightful comedy about a young trainee witch who ends up in the human realm after rebelling following a 300-year detention at her Hogwarts-style boarding school (J.K. Rowling was just short of her seventh birthday when this premiered) and stealing a book of spells whose powers she's not quite ready to control. It's crammed with VFX and surreal imagery, and you'd have thought that it would be a prime candidate for an eye-catching cover. But instead...
And then there's Vorlíček's gloriously-titled How to Drown Dr Mráček the Lawyer, in which the well-meaning title character, far from being the cold-hearted lawyer stereotype, is in fact determined to use his qualifications to improve the lot of the downtrodden – to which end he arranges to have a family relocated from their damp-riddled hovel near the river to a much more modern apartment in central Prague. The only problem is, the family is made up of evil water sprites in human form whose favourite hobbies include deliberately engineering fatal car crashes and stealing the souls from the victims as they breath their last, and the damp that's infusing their home, far from being a structural flaw, is in fact literally keeping them alive. But they can't explain any of this to Dr Mráček, what with the whole mass-murder aspect, so instead they vow to bump him off. Again, there's potential galore for a really knockout cover, but...
Happily, Deaf Crocodile has picked up the latter, and I have every confidence that they'll massively, massively improve on this.

Whatever can be made of its blu-ray cover, you can't say that Italian Seltzer/Friedberg ripoff Box Office 3D: The Filmest of Films doesn't have a great title. For all the stars advertised prominently on the cover, I am surprised that they left out the special appearance of

Maybe this one doesn't qualify, I haven't actually seen the film, but.....

Why is it animated? Why? And what's with the ass-eating? And the font really sucks!!

Why is the barrel rolling into the sea? Why are the soccer players seemingly co-ed?

That's the french poster by the legendary comic surrealist illustrator Tomi Ungerer (who designed the poster for Dr. Strangelove). It fits the tone of the film (about a whiskey heist) perfectly. It's not about a soccer team, and the main four characters are not all male. So yes, it's quite good poster.

Basically designed as a perfect prop for a Family Guy episode discussing it (never the eventual CC version, alas), but still feels dumber than the actual film contained therein (I also blame the film, itself, for this choice) ](*,)

Why would anyone want a slipcover for Ozon’s Jeune et jolie that looks like this?

It came up for me on Amazon while looking at VS's Corpse Mania as "You May Also Like." At first I thought it was some strange marketing for a Caligari/Nosferatu bargain bin release but it looks like that still is taken straight from the very contemporary films in the set.

I think he does, in the scene where De Niro is telling him that he's been blacklisted.JSC wrote: Wed Sep 10, 2025 1:34 pm Not to mention the dead-eyed simulacrum of De Niro et al. hovering over the most generic of Vegas cityscapes. I
