Then I suppose I should begin with my doomed-to-be-an-orphan number 1, Pranzo di ferragosto. The charming tone of affectionate irony, the keenness of observation regarding everyday life, and the perfection of a narrative in which nothing is superfluous or missing —fluctuating between the implicit and the explicit, all within an impeccable rhythm and featuring performances of exceptional plausibility— define this achievement. What's more, a noble tribute to the magnificent traditions of Italian cinema and culture.
