I was thinking of this movie the other day. another situation where Kino didn't touch it when they were licensing from Disney, so I wonder if Criterion will do it sometime? would be awesome. along with Dead Presidents and the upgrade of Spellbound, these would probably be some of the bigger Disney priorities

anyway. 7 titles again. this is also a want list but is also well rounded, covering multiple countries/languages/time periods. would guess High and Low but since we don't know when Spike's movie is coming, I'll bet on July, since Kurosawa is a July/November release kinda director anyway. plus we need The Burmese Harp out already!

as much as I want this to happen, I'd be stunned if this doesn't get a European release from Canal first so we'd know about it in advance, that's why I've held off guessing it. ditto The Orphic Trilogy coming back - while we have new restorations for Testament of Orpheus and Blood of a Poet, I've heard nothing about Orpheus having a new restoration

Well Kino did release a handful of Canal titles on 4K without them first getting Euro editions.

I think it's established Criterion have some sort of "different" relationship with Disney. none of the titles have gone out of print, and All of Us Strangers and The Shape of Water have both come out. granted, if they release a Fox catalog title (or a 4K upgrade of one), that'll be more telling, but I don't think it's off the books yet that Criterion is basically the only label standing who could pull off any Disney/Fox release at this point

that is true, that does kinda go against my idea. for awhile it seemed to be that way until Kino put those out. Playtime is a top 10 movie for me, I'll take an upgrade of it any month now
