I also just noticed that one of these shorts boasts Michel Piccoli's final film role (offscreen, as a narrator)

I’m a little miffed that I missed out on the Franco. Only was aware of it after it had gone. It wasn’t very well publicised at all.

I’m hoping that I’ll be able to buy it from Pulse Video, or some retailer. Somewhere.

Pulse are actually offering a superior version anyway (NSFW):

Slipcover/digipack version
Standard version

as it contains Je brûle de partout as the VS disc does, along with Franco's Dark Mission (excluded from the VS disc due to rights issues), as well as 3 other Lahaie titles (though I believe some of these will be SD only). For those in the UK like me this actually works out cheaper than VS's disc.

Je brûle de partout will have English subs and Dark Mission will have its (live sound recorded) English soundtrack.

Pulse will also be offering copies of the VS disc that only contains Je brûle de partout, but I'm not sure who exactly would opt for that.

There is usually no publicity at all for partner label releases until they drop (unless a label does it themselves). I personally like it because it makes the announcement more of an event.

edit: As EddieLarkin pointed out the version on the Pulse website might be considered a better deal for some.

Are there any releases worth picking up that are at low stock and may not be available by the time DD has their next coupon? Aside from Apocalypse After, looks like Forbidden Love is quickly selling out of both editions. The LE packaging looks like it may be worth it too (something I rarely opt for with these releases). Sibyl isn't likely at risk of selling out here, but it's under 1000 copies for both editions as well

It’s not gonna be for everyone, but Final Flesh is such shoddy surrealist trash that it becomes art. Mileage will vary, but if you have a tolerant palette for deeply irreverent humor combined with bad acting mirroring for deadpan delivery to heighten shock value, here you go. If this was just random for random sake a la Family Guy, I’d hate it, but it’s more focally driven around antisocial comedy- the kind that queasily inverts expectations from human behavior in mannerisms and logic- and that worked for me. Unfortunately the extras are sparse, but I’ll be picking this up. Now everyone who watches this can freely judge me!

One important thing to keep in mind, though, is that the stock count on standard editions doesn't really mean much, since, unless it's already noted as being limited, it's a near-certainty that it will be re-pressed. Buster Keaton, for instance, is available for pre-order from the usual outlets. But FOMO is a hell of a drug!

I was already interested when I saw that the people behind Wonder Showzen and Xavier: Renegade Angel wrote it.

Surely you’ve seen Wonder Showzen in meme format from stuff like this or this or the “That’s racist!” kid

Wonder Showzen & Xavier are canon, though I feel like Final Flesh could have fared better had it been held together by just about anybody else.

Big important thing to remember: Pulse won't ship any their EU exclusive versions to the USA, so please make your arrangements as such.

Quoted for truth and/or eBay & possibly your bank accounts.

Likewise, if you're ever on the fence about certain partner label titles (dwindling numbers or otherwise), a majority of them are available for viewing legitimately on Kanopy or elsewhere (Tubi, etc.), for free or best offer.

Is it normal for Flash Sale orders to take multiple weeks to ship? Mine was placed May 27 and still says "paid - unfulfilled."

Same, it's greatly influencing my decision to wait til some of the partner label pre-orders show up on DD et al. as they'll be cheaper prices than these even with the $10 discount and I'll probably get the orders around the same time in ~a month or two

After their bi-yearly sales, they fulfill in order of existing subscribers, new subscribers, and then everyone else. It's not uncommon for it to take a little while at this time of year if you aren't a subscriber.

That makes sense, it just dilutes some incentive to buy direct unless you love slipcases.. although, on that note, I really wish they’d advertise their packaging with more detail, as I’d be more inclined to buy direct if I knew stuff would be more intricate like Her Smell. Forbidden Love kinda looks like it, but who knows, and my wallet hurts enough where I doubt I’ll take the gamble

Thanks for the information about Pulse’s release of Je Broule de Partout, Eddie & Glowing.

I wasn’t about to access their website, last week.

Going to check if they do ship to the U.K.

I need to stop falling behind on restored Franco Blu rays.

My non-subscriber order, placed a few hours after the sale started, just got a shipping number.

On a related note, has anyone here seen both cuts of Creature and preferred the theatrical version? I would like to watch the director's preferred Titan Find cut, but the difference in quality is night and day (literally, because you can barely tell what's going on in the only partially-restored Titan Find version), and as such, I'm fishing for an excuse to start with the theatrical one.

Righting Wrongs will be coming in July according to the banner on the website, though I doubt it will be better than the 88 Films release since Irongod and co. will be working on that release.

Looks like VS will win the cover art though. I'll be interested to see the differences. Since I'm a subscriber I'm getting the VS copy automatically. Might grab a standard edition of the 88 films version when it comes out.for the special features.

Also along with this there will be 14 new partner label titles on July 1st at 12:01 PM EST
