The trailer for No Country... looks impressive. I thought Josh Brolin was pretty good in Grindhouse, and he looks impressive in the online clips for this film.

This trailer suggests a more sophisticated update of Blood Simple, although I could be way off base on this.

Roger Ebert has written a bit about the film, and while not a full-length review, it's pretty clear that he likes it a lot.

After watching the trailer, I borrowed a copy of Cormac McCarthy's novel from the library. It's a page-turner, that's for sure! I started it last night and I'm almost done.

EDIT: Finished the novel. Looks like the dialog in the film is lifted from the novel verbatim, so I'm expecting a pretty faithful adaptation, as far as these things go. On the other hand, I kinda hope the Coens surprise me a little.

Indeed. The only thing that caught my eye was seeing the Coens share directing credit for the first time.

They were actually both credited as producers and directors for the first time on The Ladykillers.

EDIT: NICE! I didn't know what to think after seeing the first trailer but after seeing this one I'm definitely in.

I got in with a fake name, fake birthday and valid zip. Anyway, I would advise not watching it as it seems to lump in nearly every "kill" in the film; it definitely seems like there were some spoilerish moments. I kind of wish I hadn't watched it.

Yeah I also feel like I saw a little too much from that trailer but it makes me want to actually go see it now so it does it's job well.

The trailer makes it look like a very faithful adaptation indeed. And it's a damn fine book, so that should be a good thing. It makes a very good fit for the Coens actually, because although it's quite a bit darker than their usual fare, it still has a kind of wry, subtle sense of humor lurking within that darkness, and I can imagine them fully embracing that aspect of it. I'm excited for this.
