I'll reserve judgment until seeing the film*. After all, it is all in the execution.

*not really

He has an itch on his shoulder blade that he can't quite reach.

Nic Cage has to be having one of the more noticeable cinematic mid life crises in recent memory. He can be pretty good in legitimate roles (Adaptation, Wild at Heart), but this National Treasure/Ghost Rider/Bangkok Dangerous stuff is absolutely nauseating. But hey, if most filmgoers are either indifferent or turned off by you, you're getting old, and studios are still stupid enough to think it's a good idea to make you the male lead in an action film alongside gals like Eva Mendes or Jessica Biel... he must just figure "Why not?"

The quote describing David Zucker as "the master of movie satire" was attributed to... David Zucker, of course.

The trailer looks like a parody of the movie itself.

....aka National Treasure 3: Time Travel
Alex Proyas can't seem to get a break on directing a decent movie after Dark City, can he?

Barring any Madonna or Kaballah cameos, this looks alright.
Yeah, it definitely looks closer to his first two films than, say, Swept Away.
Guy Ritchie can't seem to get a break.

I know. Holy Christ. I mean, shit.

I'm no fan of Moore, but do the far right really think he wants to see American destroyed? Or that America's 'the greatest country in the whole wide world?" (wait, don't answer that). Or that suicide bombers are funny?

First a "British" Steve McQueen, and now a "British" Charles Bronson...

And are any of Refn's film actually good?

I haven't seen Bleeder, but the Pusher films are excellent and Fear X, while apparently not well regarded by many, is quite solid. Refn has a good visual sense (even if he does his fair share of stylistic borrowing) and I've always been particularly impressed with the sound design in his films.

between the ultra-dramatic music and that super cheesy 'serious' voice over, I am expecting it to be financed by the state dept. as a ploy to enlist citizens to fight for freedom. It just seemed like an extra-long navy commercial (if it had a monster on a chess-set it would be for the marines).

Wow, the acting in that trailer reveals that $180,000 was a slam dunk
