I really hoped that The Seventh Seal would come in a nice digipack. The cover is really fitting for it.
Thanks for the pics though, the Marienbad set looks really gorgeous. I like the raised spine text =D>

I'm pretty sure they're entirely done with that.
We'll know for sure in a little bit, but I wouldn't be surprised if Marienbad reverts back to it, or mimics the DVD packaging to a large degree cardboard-wise. Not that I relish that idea, just saying.

(That's been my theory that's what they were thinking when it came to the "deluxe" packages... and I'm ready to cancel my amazon order if that ends up being the case (and getting it elsewhere).)

Unfortunately it doesn't appear anywhere.

Marienbad blu-ray will be in cardboard packaging similar to the initial Criterions, word is. Guessed right.

I don't think they're going to sell DVDs with that artwork, it is only going to be used for poster art.

I'm keeping fingers crossed that the new print that is currently being toured by Janus will result in a reissue and that the new artwork would provide the most obvious material for an updated cover. Pure speculation on my part..

I can see them using it as a cover. It's in the same style as Miss Julie (rightly so, as it's the same artist). They'll probably move the title around, but I think it'd be a very solid cover.

Last Year at Marienbad Blu-ray packaging

I apologize that the first shot is out of focus. Noticed it too late.

Simple, but I think this is a gorgeous cover (if you try not to notice the ship in the extreme background)

Hate to clutter, but was wondering if someone could help me here. This is the second set of "clear" cases (just came today) I've purchased for the new Criterion single-discers, and again, it's opaque. Completely frustrating. Does anyone know where I can get the translucent Amaray premium cases?

Looking at this site, it appears that there are both "clear" and "super clear" Amaray cases. Perhaps the latter is what Criterion uses?

So today I`ve received Last Year At Marienbad. Absolutely gorgeous release, the cover does work for me. Even though I was sceptical at first.
I really was surprised though to find out that the packaging was white and not grey/silver as I thought it would be.
Very happy with it though! will be watching it and working my way through the extra`s over the weekend.

This is why I love Criterion releases, each one is like Christmas all over again. Remember how you'd go home with all your new presents and sit on the living room floor playing with them until Christmas break was over? That's what it's like with a Criterion. Every extra is like a new toy.

I have to say, I wasn't one to complain about the packaging for Criterion's first Blu-ray releases, but I am really impressed with these new smaller keepcases. I have Wages and Seal so far, and they look like little bricks of gold. These are some of the most important films in my collection, and now they look like it too.
