I would be amazed if they didn't at least give us Essential Arthouse releases of them (as they're doing with the Carné film).

I'm sure we're getting a new Kurosawa Eclipse in January.

But, oh man, I expected the Sternbergs soon. What does "Not on schedule" mean? How many months, at minimum?

"Not on schedule", as in the near production future. It is not known the exact months, but their schedule seems to be on a yearly basis as far as I know.

I am a fairly unabashed Criterion apologist, but the Dielman YouTube competition . . . wow. Get the waterskis and the leather jacket ready.

I admire Criterion's decision to do something different to promote one of their releases. It sounds like fun. I can't wait to check out the videos, and may even cook something up myself.

A word of friendly advice: anybody who enters the competition and doesn't dress up in Delphine drag doesn't deserve to win.

(Though I'm willing to accept videos done as Delphine-in-Marienbad or Delphine-in-Donkey-Skin.)

Someone should upload a cooking video inspired by Blood of the Beasts as their entry.

The Sternberg silents have been rumoured for so long that I found it sincerely disappointing to hear that they are only coming 'sometime in 2010'. That's why I didn't slobber, rather on the contrary. I wanted the darn things out 12 months ago!!

Not Simone Thévenot? After being repeatedly invited to dinner but denied the opportunity to actually eat, does it not make sense that one would finally take matters into their own hands?

Having only seen the three Ophuls in the collection, I'm at a loss.

Could this be a reference to any of Ophuls' American movies? Or have they just given up dropping hints...

Maybe there's some way to interpret this as a Complete Rivette boxset.

"Caged heat" presumably referring to the sexy forum battle that will ensue following the cover art announcement featuring an unconscious P.T. Anderson lying in a puddle of his own vomit (with the "wacky C" of course positioned to resemble a half digested croissant)

Could it be Max Ophuls' film 'Caught'? Because I'd really like to see that one!

I don't remember any birds in that one, but I've also done my best to erase all memory of that horrid film from my mind
