He's no Blue Dog, but I would really love to hear a feature-length commentary on 8 1/2 by Senator James Inhofe. After all, it's a weird European film about a liberal film director/adulterer who's a Catholic, plus it has some of those effeminate types in it. Any chance the folks at Criterion might consider this for their forthcoming Blu-ray edition?

I would also like to make him sit down and watch Salo, but he might confuse it with a documentary about Abu Ghraib and start defending the actions of the patriotic Italians running the facility.

Only thing better would be a Tom Coburn commentary on 4 Months 3 Weeks 2 Days

Or a Coburn commentary on Vera Drake. A Jim Demint commentary on Gance's Napoleon and Tom Delay on The Band Wagon. No doubt Mark Foley would be in the commentary for Bully

If one is to trust the assertions in Kirby Dick's documentary Outrage (2009), it would also be interesting to somehow trick the Florida governor Charlie Crist into doing a feature-length commentary on Brokeback Mountain or Maurice. The latter could even be a Criterion Collection special edition.

On the other hand, Cruising might be a better choice for Sen. Larry Craig. Just imagine the newsletter clue for that title!

Oh, please stop me before this gets out of hand.

No need for a commentary. If Tom Coburn were a filmmaker, he would have made 4 Months 3 Weeks 2 Days.

8 1/2 is a "dog" of a film.

They are unhappy they have to release it.

Maybe they're trying to give it artistic credibillity by releasing it in a two pack with Beethoven?

What happened with the clue about Christmas in Monument Valley and everyone thought it was Stagecoach? What did the clue hint at?

After all the creative newsletter titles they've used for most of their recent releases, I like that the best they could come up with for Howards End was "HOWARDS END in High-Definition."
