He was pretty much doomed from the first minute he stepped onto the set of Different Strokes. May he find whatever Willis was talkin' 'bout.bamwc2 wrote:CNN is now reporting (banner, but no story yet) that Gary Coleman has died.

Re: Passages
I know I should be glad considering how his health was these last few months, but what he and his films have done so much for me that sadness trumps reason. As a reply to this terrible fortunate news I just hope that relief comes to his friends and family.
Now for a joke in bad taste. I guess this means that Coleman's reappraisal will be short-lived.

Re: Passages
I love the story about how on set, John Wayne was going to kill "that hippie" Dennis Hopper (who was hid by the crew) after his daughter got offended at a Berkley protest

Re: Passages
I had no idea Hopper had cancer; I was only aware of health issues and the news came as a total shock. I'll never forget his performance in Blue Velvet and the one film of his as director that I've seen so far, Colours, struck me as pretty good. RIP Dennis.

Re: Passages
As well as his iconic performance in Blue Velvet, Hopper has left countless performances that have stuck in my mind because they were driven from his soul; his off-the-wall performances in Rumble Fish, Apocolypse Now, True Romance, Straight to Hell, Red Rock West etc are truly brilliant. I absolutely loved his appearance more recently starring alongside Deborah Harry in Isabel Coixet's Elegy in which he gave such a moving performance. And can we ever forget Hopper as Lieutenant 'Lefty' Enright in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2. Hell no!...[no matter how hard I try to forget the film].
What sad news.

Re: Passages
I prefer his Apocalypse performance most of all. RIP, mannnn. All is forgiven now, even his 2000 support of W.
