I think you've got it. They also screened another Pedro Costa title at the ATP festival. They probably are sitting on the rights to the bulk of his films. I wouldn't be surprised if they also filmed an interview for an eventual Criterion of IFC's White Material as well.

Oh how I wish it were S'en fout la mort: nice French transfer available with no subs, no possibility of an uncut (or any?) British release. But the IFC connection for White Material surely makes that a front-runner.

Edit: Nevermind, just saw the last page. How many other Costa films does Criterion have?

I think his appearance in the Criterion office is for the Costa film but that he has several titles making it's way to the collection. Jarmusch has been slowly moving his films over from the major studios to Janus and Coffee and Cigarettes will come out sooner rather than later. It's also highly likely they'll release White Material from IFC, so all three answers are probably right. He may not be involved in interviews for White Material or Coffee and Cigarettes, since his contribution to both films seem to be fairly minor.
