The HVE disc is excellent. It will be interesting to see what supplements are added to justify the upgrade.

My favorite yakuza film. Let's hope for a BD with a lossless audio track because the Takemitsu score is stunning and the segue at the end from Takemitsu's music to Dame Janet Baker singing Purcell's When I am Laid in Earth is one of the most sublime musical moments in film.swo17 wrote:That would be wonderful!

Have you seen Jason Polan’s second annual wacky New Year’s drawing yet? See how many upcoming 2011 titles you can spot!

I feel mildly cheated that there wasn't a new clue in the newsletter.

Re: Criterion Newsletter (Part 2)
I would love to see a clue indicating a special edition of Jason and the Argonauts was on the way. Probably not ever going to happen. I wish Sony/Columbia would let Criterion have the title. They have several laser disc supplements that haven't seen the light of day since.
EDIT: If it's a Unicorn, then it will probably be for Malle's Black Moon.

It'd be about time! I've been looking forward to this one since talk of it in the collection surfaced.ianungstad wrote:EDIT: If it's a Unicorn, then it will probably be for Malle's Black Moon.

This was such a major part of my childhood that I would be over the moon if this were legitimately announced. I know you're kidding, but...HistoryProf wrote:holy crap....that was a completely out of my ass supposed to be a joke post. that was the only Unicorn title I could think of \:D/souvenir wrote:Probably not since Lions Gate is releasing The Last Unicorn on Blu-ray next week.HistoryProf wrote:are they breaking into animation with The Last Unicorn?
