Does anybody know if Criterion are working on/have the rights to Ozu's A Hen In The Wind and/or The Flavor of Green Tea Over Rice?

The Criterion Collection We'll definitely get to them, but not this year. How's that for a straight answer?
A Hen in the Wind playing with Janus credits these days at UCLA/BAM Pacific Film Archive. Other Janus credits are on Kinoshita's Immortal Love and Ichikawa's Odd Obsession. Maybe we'll get a Kinoshita Eclipse.

Criterion linked to a Howard Hawks interview online. Can we speculate that Rio Bravo is getting closer to release?

It'd be nice.

I'm sure Captain A. would be more than happy to provide commentary.

I think it's Sacha Guitry with edge enhancement and boosted contrast.

That's Melville's cameo in Orpheus. I'm hoping that this is a complete redo of the disc and not just a Blu-ray upgrade. I assume that they'll move the doc, Autobiography of an Unknown, from Blood of a Poet to this disc.

I just can't see this not being a complete redo rather than just a Blu upgrade. They need a way to sell the DVD again since they can't sell the box and they never released the Orpheus DVD individually.

The box came out in 2000; Orpheus is spine #68. It would be an apt candidate for a complete upgrade even if it wasn't being released individually for the first time.

It looks like one of those U2 or Coldplay iTunes commercials.

Looks like Criterion tried to take a drive down Creativity Street but it turned out to be one of those streets that doesn't go through, what are those called

Criterion posted that they're announcing new titles next week (no surprise) but they posted this alongside a photo of Chantal Akerman. Discuss.

That might entail a whole new transfer, since the current release seems to have been sourced from the earlier Belgian DVD transfer. Still, if this did happen I'd be surprised and impressed. I can't imagine what other unreleased Akerman would be a possibility. (Unless Eclipse are going to come forth with the "Akerman in the 80s" box-set that was promised but never materialised in Europe? Glaringly obvious but potentially confusing title: Chantal Akerman's Golden Eighties)

I think it's just because the pic is on their homepage and when they did something like this last month, they had a pic of the top headline at that time. I don't see any connection between it.
