Moratorium or some such Disney-like thing.

But the Disneys stay in print for more than just a couple months. The last Potter film just had its theatrical run this past July.

I don't know if it really works for Disney. Their movies have been pirated throughout the years more than any other studio. Sites like ebay are constantly flooded with pirated versions of their animated features. It seems that their Pixar division has stopped taking films into the Vault and the span of time between putting films into moratorium and bringing them back has been shortened. Warner being the dumbasses their have been for the past several years are going to mimic this stupid trend and they are going to regret it when they see the market flooded with bootlegs.

Actually, after thinking about it a little bit, WB has already done this with a few other titles recently, putting them out of print for a year or so before reissuing them, and even letting people know that they are doing it. Recent example being Singing In The Rain, Camelot and What Ever Happened to Baby Jane, which were put out of print at the end of last year and are supposed to get new releases sometime next year. And just a few months later Casablanca and Lethal Weapon series were also put on moratorium.

Of course Harry Potter is going to be milked for every dollar they can possibly squeeze out of it whenever it resurfaces, so it's a little bit of a different situation, but given that these key title reissues are typically digibooks or even big boxes filled with junk, I suppose in the end it's not really all that different. (For example, for Casablanca and Lethal Weapon we get to look forward to "stunning remasterings, spectacular Blu-ray debuts, new special features, Ultimate Collectors Editions and more" coming out next year.)

Fox just put all editions (DVDs and Blus) of its Christmas movies, including Home Alone and Miracle on 34th Street OOP, and all editions of Sound of Music (no doubt in advance of a forthcoming R+H box to match the UK one)

Well if it means a special edition with a director's cut (if possible), then all would be well.

Amazon has sold off all the copies of Trafic they had @ 19.99. All that's left is 3rd party sellers and the price has risen dramatically, almost doubled. You can bet this will be a near $100 OOP Criterion in the near future.

It appears that Warner is reissuing the OOP Prince and the Showgirl in April. Probably just a change of packaging.

All the information I've found is that it is supposed to be in academy (though there is enough headroom in the version that they showed on TCM recently to suggest it's open matte).

I'd bet not, based on how long the OOP copies were available at $19.99.

I regret selling my Third Man blu on the basis of "this will never rise above $30 with the Studio Canal on the way"

I thought myself a genius when I finally sold mine for $100 last summer. And now it's going for three times that. Good work, me

I am looking like a genius for selling my Flamenco Trilogy for 150.00$ two months before Amazon found that box of them. I then proceeded to buy a copy for like 25$. I haven't opened it yet because I haven't had the urge to watch it again. However, I will have it if there ever comes a day that I decide I need to watch some cool Flamenco.

There are a couple of $75ish copies on Amazon right now, albeit without the case.
