Extremely, judging by the other Criterions and the fact that Janus is screening the silent Gold Rush currently (right?)

I guess it is likely to be The Gold Rush, but this does give me the opportunity to link to the final scene of Stroszek!

I'm hoping it is because Criterion is doing their own transfers.... Am I the only one who has been disappointed with Criterion's mk2 transfers?Peacock wrote:I wonder if the delay in Chaplin releases is partly due to MK2 not having restored anymore in a year so Criterion is preferring to spread the releases out themselves so that they don't reach a stage where they have to wait 2 years to release the other major titles... I mean there hasn't been a new Blu since The Circus in 2010 right? Leaving Limelight, Verdoux, Woman of Paris and others still to be done...

Of course! However, silly me took the rhyming option at first and thought 'What rhymes with "blue raccoon"? I know ... Blue Lagoon'. Then I thought "What?"kinjitsu wrote:

I would not be surprised if there was another Maysles release to coincide with the upgrade.

Looks like nobody paid attention to the screenshot from A Man Escaped!? It was rumored as coming 2-3 years ago, but there were no updates recently. Maybe it's finally happening!

Re: Criterion Newsletter (Part 2)
There's been a Bresson retrospective going on at NYC's Film Forum all month. It could easily be taken elsewhere, I'd assume, as well. They already have the rights to it and it's on Hulu+...so I wouldn't assume that means that an update is any more impending.

I'm surprised to see Nashville on there. I hope at the least they'll have Four Nights of a Dreamer and Lancelot. I'd drive a few hours just for one Bresson, though!

If they have Four Nights of a Dreamer in freaking Nashville, I'm going to have to break my vow not to see movies at places which charge for parking.
