So are Zoe Kazan and Paul Dano like, a package deal now? They played a couple in Meek's Cutoff, now this film, and they're together in real life.flyonthewall2983 wrote:Ruby Sparks, from the studio AND directors of Little Miss Sunshine.

You'll either hate or love this one. Korine seems rather busy lately.

Samsara. Finally. Looks utterly awesome as expected. I cannot wait to see this on the biggest screen possible.

Pixar's latest, Brave, looks like it has a very different tone than anything they've done so far.

It's a shame they had to go with "Generic 'Ironic' Indie Film Title #437" when you just know somebody on the team was lobbying for "Porndora's Box."

Considerably fewer times than Vincent Gallo would have.

Hm... some evidence to back up the rumors of this being a pretty awful film.

Sean Penn, Josh Brolin, Ryan Gosling, Nick Nolte, Emma Stone, et. al. in Gangster Squad. Great cast of course, and who doesn't love a Warner gangster picture, but what's with the completely incongruous music?

Haven't you seen the trailer for Wettest County in the W... excuse me, Lawless? Advertising departments aren't even trying to be period-accurate anymore.Jeff wrote:what's with the completely incongruous music?
It looks pretty good, although I suspect I've just seen all the key moments. We'll see if Ruben Fleischer has it in him.

In re: Dark Horse...
Funnily, to me this vaguely resembles the film I've always understood his disowned Fear, Anxiety and Depression to be...
Solondz is one of my favorite working directors so he gets the benefit of the doubt from me for now... but yeah, this looks like a horribly generic version of an Apatow-style comedy to me. It could just be that the trailer is horrible, with all the hallmarks of awful music stop/starting to punctuate really awkward jokes. Ugh.mfunk9786 wrote:Hm... some evidence to back up the rumors of this being a pretty awful film.

Trailer released for Michel Gondry's The We and the I. The film debuts at Cannes tomorrow. Hopefully the reviews indicate that the film has more to offer than what's on display in the trailer because this looks awful. Reminds me of a bad afterschool special peppered with some f-bombs.

Oh puh-lease. That film is brimming with in-camera effects and visual mastery that no amount of writing can accomplish - Gondry is (or at least was at that point) an extremely talented technical director.Gondry's defenders will, of course, point to the excellent "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind," but the passage of years has made it abundantly clear that the credit for that film is entirely screenwriter Charlie Kaufman's; Gondry may have gotten out of the way of that script, but that's hardly a reason to celebrate his skills or capablities, such as they are, beyond that.

In a similar vein, the passage of years has made it abundantly clear that the credit for The Godfather is entirely Mario Puzo's; Coppola may have gotten out of the way of that novel, but that's hardly a reason to celebreate his skills or capabilities, such as they are, beyond that.
