I was refering only to the ones whose rights were in the air. Stuff like Taste the Blood of Dracula is a pretty known quality.

I'm curious as to what extras we could expect on a Criterion release of a Lynch film. I know there is the making of Eraserhead extra on the dvd, but in my opinion I found it somewhat annoying watching Lynch talk for over an hour long in what looked like a rocka-a-billy studio with a stupid old microphone gimmick.

Lynch is pretty cryptic and only a few notches above Woody Allen when in it comes to supplements.

Well, one supplement that is very likely to turn up on the Criterion release of Eraserhead is the documentary I Don't Know Jack.

The Nance doc does seem like a probable inclusion. Beyond that, maybe they could go the Malick route and get a commentary or substantial interview with Jack Fisk.

Is the doc on Nance or Fisk?

Nance. The DVD is apparently out of print, so I imagine Criterion could snag the rights.

As mentioned earlier, mk2 (Eraserhead's sales agent) also handle six Lynch shorts (The Grandmother, The Alphabet, Six Men Getting Sick, Premonitions Following an Evil Deed, and both versions of The Amputee) which have been issued on Blu elsewhere. They seem like natural extras for an Eraserhead release. mk2 also handles some davidlynch.com work -- Dumbland, the Dynamic:01 material -- but they have no existing Blu releases and they strike me as less obvious fits for Eraserhead. I can see them being included if Criterion were to put out a separate release of Lynch's short films (the other six shorts are only around 70 minutes altogether).

Ok, I give in.
Is all the random speculation about Criterion & David Lynch just that, or has there been something mentioned somewhere on the net to spur this talk on?

Criterion have recently added Eraserhead to their Hulu channel, suggesting that they probably have home media rights as well.

Oh, ok. Well, here's hoping it leads to something before Lynch gets cold feet again.

Wouldn't matter because Lynch does not handle the rights himself any longer. Mk2 does.

Speaking of Lynch, what does everyone make of this?

As covered earlier in the thread, the entire profile of the user who posted that has been removed, and sadly, some of the other films he uploaded are actually owned by Criterion. So, maybe Mulholland Drive is coming, but that's not the best hint.

Probably the same thing when it popped up in the Hulu thread on this board last week.

The wording on that message shows that there is no definite connection between Mulholland Drive and Criterion.

The users account was deleted due to multiple copyright violations over NBC Universal and Criterion Collection properties. The Hulu thread goes into some detail as to what else the guy had on his account, but there were some definite Criterion films on there.

Because his account was deleted, all of his uploaded videos were deleted, including this one.

That is all you can say for certain. It doesn't necessarily mean Criterion has any rights to Mulholland Drive.

We're long overdue to hear an announcement for an older IFC-owned title and this one feels like a good pick for the day, but what do I know, I would have guessed Following to coincide with the release of Nolan's new film this month.

If I remember correctly, someone posted a message a few months back from Criterion saying that The Following should be out soon. Given that, I wouldn't be surprised to see it later today.

Hopefully that Steve Erickson is the novelist who wrote 'Days Between Stations', etc.

So it looks like they are not updating the DVD version, just releasing a new BD edition? I guess this is the first BD-only upgrade (if you don't count Howards End, which you shouldn't since it wasn't an upgrade, they just added a BD version).

I'm pretty sure Naked and a few others were like that too.
