Directing a Charlie Kaufman film must be thankless work, man. Spike Jonze and Michel Gondry worked the hell out of that material to get the most out of it that they possibly could, and took their respective films to new levels. I'd like to see Brett Ratner direct Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind from the same script and see what comes out. James Rocchi may have disliked this new film, but what he had to say about Gondry is downright dopey.

I'm pretty sure the engraving of Mr. Murray's name on the Oscar is done already.

I don't know. Stiff competition this year from Daniel Day Lewis in Lincoln, Phillip Seymour Hoffman in The Master, and Leonardo DiCaprio in The Great Gatsby. I'm sure there will be some feeling that Murray is "due" whether the performance is great or not though.

Scott McGehee and David Siegel have a new film, What Maisie Knew. The gauzy trailer made me wonder if I had the beginnings of glaucoma.

He might not even get nominated, this year is going to be stacked for male lead performances.

Jon Hawkes - Six Sessions
Christoper Plummer - Barrymore
Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe - Les Mis
Jaquin Phoenix and Phillip Seymour Hoffman - Master
Daniel Day Lewis - Lincoln
James Gandolfini - Not Fade Away

Based on the Gatsby trailer I believe Dicaprio has virtually no chance.

Ahem, trailer for the Tom Hooper-directed Les Misérables.
Definitely capitalizing on popularity of "I Dreamed a Dream."

Perhaps, but I say he has a pretty good chance for a Supporting Actor nomination via Django Unchained.

Looks exactly like what I'd hope an adaptation of the musical for film would look like.

Branded looks very interesting, like a remake of They Live that may actually be worth seeing.

First teaser for Pixar's Monster University.

I don't know, it looks like everything is going downhill for Pixar. :-s

Joe Wright's got something far more adventurous than a stodgy period literary adaptation in mind for Anna Karenina, though there are only glimpses of his artistic interpretation here.

Sam Raimi's Oz the Great and Powerful looks like a CGI/green screen mess.

Looked fine to me, although maybe I'm just relieved this isn't a big screen Wicked adaptation (shudder). To damn with faint praise, it's better-looking than Burton's Alice.

Dinotasia - narrated by Werner Herzog.

Is it wrong that I went from shrugging about how silly this looked to absolutely NEEDING to see it after hearing Herzog's voice over the trailer?

Did I really see two T-Rexs mid-coitus around the 1:30 mark?
I really wonder who the target audience is for this.

Ugh, seeing Chris Brown pop-up is about the harshest possible comedown from the Josh Holloway high (aside from realizing this is how Josh Holloway is spending his time nowadays)
