Despite the over-prevalence of voice-over that I find annoying in that film, The Haunting is one of my favorite horror films and truly terrifying at moments. Can't wait!

There's only voiceover at the beginning and end.

The DVD I have most certainly has more than that. We're talking about this, right?. The opening scene, the first night when she's in a hallway alone I recall some. Throughout the film, as the protagonist is more and more convinced she's becoming crazy, she constantly wonders aloud (through voiceover) if she's losing it.

Oh, okay. My mistake. I thought you were talking about the narrator, not Eleanor's internal monologues.

This makes me both gleefully happy, and really frustrated that's it's not coming from someone like Shout! Factory...domino harvey wrote:In the Mouth of Madness Oct 15

So, they didn't have room for the 100 minute A Warrior's Journey documentary, but there's plenty of room for:
- a motion lenticular card
- an embroidered iron-on patch
and exciting new special features such as:
What a load of shit. I'd say stick to the older Bluray (its only $5). Either that or wait for the inevitable 45th anniversary edition, and then the 50th anniversary edition, etc. The new transfer is certainly something to appreciate, but not at the price of the documentary and $30 extra. I really do hate Warner Brothers. Their strategy seems to be: release something fine, but with a few flaws, then a new edition which removes certain content and adds fluff (coasters, travel tags, lenticular anything), then further super special editions which are further rearrangements of content. I'm still waiting for that new restoration of A Clockwork Orange, after like 10 Bluray re-releases.New: Wing Chun (HD, 20 minutes): An assortment of martial artists the world over demonstrate and dissect the art that introduced Lee to kung fu.

Wasn't a matter of room - they no longer have the rights for it.Minkin wrote:So, they didn't have room for the 100 minute A Warrior's Journey documentary
IIRC, even the previous release had a "silent" re-issue that dropped this documentary when the rights expired.

Although it's out of print by Warner Brothers in the US, Kaleidoscope UK released "A Warrior's Journey" on DVD last year and can be bought very cheaply.

Ahh, just bought the Internal Affairs SD along with some other Paramounts as a safeguard in case they fell OOP again.

I made the awful decision of just watching the last 10 minutes or so of the movie one night. Hopefully this is something I'll forget one day and enjoy it.

Info is starting to trickle down about the new Nolan Batman UCE set. Besides some new toys for the geeks and a hardcover book with production stills and BTS photos, there is a disc full of new features.
Unfortunately the transfers aren't new so it's the "old" discs in a new set. Set to release on September 24th, the SRP is 99.97, so expect it to dip in time for Christmas.
The Fire Rises: The Creation and Impact of The Dark Knight Trilogy - The inside perspective on the fascinating story behind the creation of one of the most celebrated franchises and how it changed the scope of movie making….forever. Full of never-before-seen footage, rare moments, and exclusive interviews with Guillermo Del Toro, Damon Lindelof, Michael Mann, Richard Roeper, Zack Snyder and others.
· Christopher Nolan & Richard Donner: A Conversation - For the first time, Directors Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight Trilogy) and Richard Donner (Superman) sit down to discuss the trials and triumphs involved in bringing the two most iconic superheroes of all time to the big screen, and how Superman influenced Nolan when developing Batman Begins.
· IMAX® Sequences: The Dark Knight; The Dark Knight Rises - See your favorite scenes as they were intended in the original IMAX© aspect ratio

Warner Catalog Titles on Blu
Weren't the IMAX sequences integrated into the feature on the old Blu-Ray discs? Would that make this extra completely superfluous? Why do I even care?flyonthewall2983 wrote: · IMAX[REGISTERED SIGN] Sequences: The Dark Knight; The Dark Knight Rises - See your favorite scenes as they were intended in the original IMAX[COPYRIGHT SIGN] aspect ratio

They were, but not in the IMAX aspect ratio which is taller than the rest of the film.

Re: Warner Catalog Titles on Blu
Well, on Blu-ray (but not on DVD), the IMAX scenes were shown at 1.78:1 while the 35mm scenes were 2.40:1. Reportedly, the full IMAX ratio is something like 1.9:1, so perhaps the scenes will be shown that way in the new set?knives wrote:They were, but not in the IMAX aspect ratio which is taller than the rest of the film.

Re: Warner Catalog Titles on Blu
Yeah, the IMAX ratio is approximately 1.44:1. A widescreen TV doesn't have enough height to display the full ratio without pillarboxing. Thus, as part of the film transfers, they were cropped to 1.78:1, so that they still give the visual impact of being larger than the 2.35:1 sequences without ending up with black bars on the sides.
So the bonus feature will display them in 1.44:1 without cropping.
