They'll just throw all the discs in one of those CD-R 25-disc spindles and slap a sword sticker on the side

It'd still be better than the Forever Marilyn packaging

Re: Forthcoming Lists Discussion and Random Speculation Vol.
$299.95 seems a bit steep; that's over $30 per disc. Considering BBS story did 6 discs at $125, I'd image 9 discs to be under $200, especially since it seems like this set is less recognizeable than the BBS films or the Kurosawa set.swo17 wrote:My guess: 9 disc more or less barebones BD set of all 26 films announced for December, MSRP of $299.95. Perhaps individual releases of a few of the more key films a couple years down the line.

But each disc would be filled to capacity with three feature-length films. I was figuring something like $20 base + $20 per average-sized disc + $30 per overloaded disc. For the BBS set, you also have to factor in a -$15 adjustment per disc that contains Easy Rider.

Re: Forthcoming Lists Discussion and Random Speculation Vol.
Andrew MacLean's drawing is of Zatoichi #22: Zatoichi Meets the One-Armed Swordsman which was one of the seven Zatoichi titles that AnimEigo used to have, so there is a pretty good chance that Criterion has those. I want to know is if they have Zatoichi (1989), which was released on dvd by Media Blasters.swo17 wrote:Actually, there are only 18 of the films up on Hulu, all from the '60s, so maybe we just get those in a 6-disc set retailing for $199.95 and called "Zatoichi's Blind Sixties" or something.swo17 wrote:My guess: 9 disc more or less barebones BD set of all 26 films announced for December, MSRP of $299.95. The Media Blaster disc is OOP, so there is a good chance Criterion picked that one up as well.dwk wrote:I want to know is if they have Zatoichi (1989), which was released on dvd by Media Blasters.

I didn't leak Mad World, I just confirmed that the clue was what the clue was. And I don't mention things that are total secrets...swo17 wrote:Moe D. seems to have an in with someone at Criterion, who so far has leaked forthcoming releases of Mad World (now semi-confirmed), Tootsie, and now this. Though he may not have an in for much longer if he keeps spilling the beans!

OK, you confirmed Mad World when everyone else was still incredulous that that could be the answer to the newsletter clue. As for Tootsie and The Big Chill, I'm not aware of anyone anywhere having said that these were forthcoming other than you.

I don't doubt you at all. I'm saying that no one else that knows what you know has revealed what you've revealed to the online community.

Re: Forthcoming Lists Discussion and Random Speculation Vol.
For instance, several of us had access years ago to the secret list of MGM acquisitions. There's still at least a title or two on there that I've never seen mentioned on the board, despite the fact that a few of us know the info. We're all glad to know something we shouldn't, and I'm not ragging on you for wanting to tell, but you might hurt whoever gave you that intel in the first place if it gets traced back to the source

Thanks for your concern guys, as I said, I don't talk about the stuff I can't talk about. To allay your concerns, I come by this info in such a way that isn't going to be injurious to anyone were the sources revealed. I can't be any more specific than that. Though I guess people would prefer not to learn such things in the future, I'll bear that in mind.

Re: Forthcoming Lists Discussion and Random Speculation Vol.
I'd be plenty happy to learn such things in the future, and if you really aren't endangering anyone's job, or the possibility of some of these releases coming to fruition*, go right ahead and tell us all you know.
*Remember that Eraserhead initially fell through years ago because the internet went crazy over a premature rumor. Though if that were to happen over The Big Chill, I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

I don't think Kasdan has the same paranoias as Lynch and of course Pollack is no longer with us.
I certainly wouldn't put anyones job at risk over a forum. I think a wise person would look closely at what Sony owned titles from the Laserdisc days haven't been released on Blu.
I suppose I'd be more inclined to share if it felt appreciated rather than inciting a bunch of accusations lol

To the best of my knowledge no one doubted your credibility. Hell, I think my first post here was about how I knew Kicking and Screaming was coming to Criterion and everyone treated me like shit in response. But I'm still here

Probably I did, as the internet is so great at conveying tone and all. I should know better than to expect kazoos of joy over Larry Kazdan, but all the Zatochi was making me go cross-eyed.swo17 wrote:I honestly never meant to be accusatory toward you. And Knives, glad to know a few tasteless heathens can hang around token-like
