Since when are Criterion releasing the Big Chill?

The Onion sort of predicted the Big Chill would make a comeback more than 14 years ago! It's a sign that the Great Boomer Die-Off is really picking up steam!

I think a wise person would look closely at what Sony owned titles from the Laserdisc days haven't been released on Blu.

Those remaining titles would be Shampoo and Here Comes Mr. Jordan, right? What am I forgetting? There's the Prince of Tides debacle, and the other stuff that was announced but never released on laser: The Lady from Shanghai and City of Hope.

There are a bunch more that Sony has already released on Blu. The only ones I could see Criterion redoing are the out of print Silverado and the Image-released The Fisher King.

The Fisher King would make a lot of sense, as there's a new Gilliam coming out soonish and Criterion already has a very solid commentary from him that hasn't been released since the LD

To be honest, I actually like the occasional leaks that you put out. Sadly, I have little to no interest in the films you've mentioned thus far.

Now, if you told me that Criterion plans to release a Ken Russell film in the near future, well then that would make my day.

Really curious as to how Criterion is going to release the Zatoichi films. 1 by 1? A huge boxset? Mini boxsets?

I hope it is in 3 mini boxsets of 9 films each; otherwise it could be a bit too pricey to buy all at once. They could probably put 3 films on each blu-ray (and have an extra disc for bonus features), or use double slimline cases (similar to the Eclipse series) to keep the shelf space minimal. If each mini boxset came in a slipcover box with 1/3 of the image of a sword that would be extra incentive to get them all!

Seriously? Here Comes Mr. Jordan? That may well be my all time favorite comedy! I'd be so happy if Criterion did a special edition, and yes, I have the LD.

Bodies, Rest & Motion and Edward II were Fine Line releases that eventually ended up at Image, Sony has released Boyz N the Hood on Blu, there's a pretty definitive Blu of the public domain Lady for a Day.

Whatever happened to her? The Assassin remains one of my favorite guilty pleasures. Found her to be so sexy for a stretch there in the early to mid 90s and she's fallen off the face of the earth since.

She settled down with Danny Elfman and gave up acting completely over a decade ago. She is terminally underrated and will probably always be-- though I venture most of the posts about her on the board come from me, ha. Her hair in Point of No Return is one of the original wonders of the modern world

Fonda will forever have my heart based on her work in "It Could Happen to You". Her charitable celebration over finding out she's received a $2 million tip from cop Nicholas Cage is still among the most quoted lines in my childhood home ("Who wants ice cream with their pie? Who wants pie?!")

So true Domino, her hair in the poster was the reason I went to go see it as a boy in the first place. It was also the first time I was ever introduced to Nina Simone for which I will always be grateful for. I always forget that the film has different names here and across the pond, why was that?
