I live in perpetual fear of asking inappropriate questions, but since many of you are experts in your own and particular fields of knowledge, well here goes ... is it possible that the Arrow release of "The Long Goodbye" could end up as a Criterion dual-format release (or at best an American release)? What about "Tarnished Angels"?
Jeez, everything I want is coming out in the U.K. Damn, already!

I don't see why they are not streaming it this year. Hopefully it's still taped and put online. What's the point of teasing releases if nobody gets to hear about it? Hopefully some forum members will be in attendance and will post any juicy info tomorrow night.

Tarnished Angels was licensed to TCM (aka Warner Brothers)
The Long Goodbye will probably wind up at Twilight Time with the sole feature being an exciting new commentary by Nick Redman himself! Only $39.99 plus shipping!

Peter Becker is doing a radio interview tomorrow morning for anyone who's interested:

speaking of Altman what other, if any, of his films have there been strong rumors of joining the collection? or was Nashville the hurrah for the chances of his films getting criterionizedianungstad wrote:Tarnished Angels was licensed to TCM (aka Warner Brothers)

Gosford Park was probably one of Focus titles they picked up.

That interview was actually this morning. You can listen to it here, but no real news came out of it.ianungstad wrote:Peter Becker is doing a radio interview tomorrow morning for anyone who's interested:

Speaking of Altman, they did take one phone call and the caller asked about Altman's Quintet, which Becker said he wasn't familiar with.

May I suggest the appropriate question of "where can I get a Region B blu-ray player for fifty quid"?boywonder wrote:I live in perpetual fear of asking inappropriate questions, but since many of you are experts in your own and particular fields of knowledge, well here goes ... is it possible that the Arrow release of "The Long Goodbye" could end up as a Criterion dual-format release (or at best an American release)? Actually ... anecdotally, and almost in every case, my friends have tried and tossed their futile experiments in region free players. I am no techie, so trying isn't even an option.NABOB OF NOWHERE wrote:May I suggest the appropriate question of "where can I get a Region B blu-ray player for fifty quid"?boywonder wrote:I live in perpetual fear of asking inappropriate questions, but since many of you are experts in your own and particular fields of knowledge, well here goes ... is it possible that the Arrow release of "The Long Goodbye" could end up as a Criterion dual-format release (or at best an American release)? However, I would gladly pay Twilight Time $40 for a Bluray "Long Goodbye". If one has a huge Criterion stash, price is really not an issue (and Altman, although a great director, gave totally lame commentary.)

I also am no 'techie' but I have a Region A player and a Region B player both of which cost £50 and I have figured out how to plug them into the wall.

Doesn't Europe use a different sort of plug system than America?

How does tweeting suggested questions work? Are you supposed to wait until the event starts?

I hope they clear up that "precode warner" thing from last year. The hint is no less vague a year later

I'm tagging my questions with their #WexCriterion tag. I have to leave my computer soon; wish there was a way to DVR a live stream!
