Hooray, I actually managed to get one of the freebies, even with having to reenter all my payment info when I tried to check out. Glad I was waiting to put in an order from the Anniversary Sale anyways!

Silly question, but I can't quite seem to figure this out on my own...

If you order $150 worth of TT, you get a free copy of Breaking Away?

It was only available for like five minutes, there's a $0.00 version of the giveaway title that pops up on the TT page and you add that to your cart

That blatant True Detective copying for Mississippi Burning is pretty bad

Its still better than every company making any vampire film in their catalogue look like Twilight.

Why why why do they put that filter over their covers?

After having two separate deliveries, I can say that for UK orders SAE are now marking each item as $3 instead of $5. Meaning that bulk buyers can buy up to 7 titles in one order (saving a great deal on international shipping), rather than just 4, without having to worry about customs, at least theoretically (because of course, if they check the package they're going to require you prove the items really cost $3 each, though in over 10 years of ordering marked down packages from the US, this has never once happened to me).

I'm not sure how that works. SAE (and many other places) do this by default. Does that mean any customer could be liable for something they don't necessarily have any knowledge of, or power over? I doubt it. A bit of quick research suggests that if customs are suspicious of a declared value, they will hold the package and request from you an accurate invoice. If you provide a fake one, then you become liable, but as long as you're honest and and pay the resulting fee, you've nothing to worry about.

I'll probably pick up Midsummer Night's Sex Comedy, if only because the cinematography should look stunning on Blu-Ray (it's one of Allen's best-looking color movies, even as it's one of his worst movies overall).

Interesting slate!

The Best of Everything!!!! YES, very excited to see this get the Blu-ray treatment. I don't know if anyone on the board other than David Hare and I are fans though (It was one of my orphans in the 50s list)

I thought Henry Orient was for sure with Criterion but I lose that bet.

A Midsummer Night's Sex Comedy will be the first TT Allen film I don't pick up, it's among his worst (though that guy who thought it was Allen's third best film will surely be pleased, though I don't know if TT's Blu-rays play in whatever region Bizarro World uses).

Summer Lovers is making its debut in the correct aspect ratio. I fondly remember this from Siskel's guilty pleasures feature where he praises it solely on the fact that it made him horny (seriously).

House of Bamboo is now the first of what will hopefully be many, either via Fox themselves or TT, of the Noir line getting Blu-ray treatment. (EDIT: I forgot about Laura and Boomerang, whoops)

I am still stunned Sony palmed Guess Who's Coming to Dinner off on TT

If Midsummer Night's Sex Comedy is among Allen's worst, guess I better stop procrastinating and watch the rest of his worst, as I'm apparently still in for some pretty good rides yet.
