Here's what Tarantino had to say on that today:
I want to make one announcement that people don’t know yet. It wasn’t for sure, but we just settled it. You guys know that I don’t use an original score in my movies, I kinda take scores from other movies and put ‘em in there. This one, I thought should have an original score. So I’m here to announce that the great Ennio Morricone will be doing the score for The Hateful Eight. He’s writing right now, and recording in Prague in the next couple of weeks.

I haven't enjoyed Tarantino since Kill Bill, but everything about this seems very exciting.

OMG...didn't Quint learn anything from Leone?

It's not a frame grab from the finished film. It's a magazine cover designed to sell itself to readers who'd like to see nothing better than dressed up Hollywood actors.

Fair enough...I still hate his choice of actors in this and most of his other films.

Not sure what your point is exactly. If you're going to argue that Tarantino is terrible at casting (except, perhaps, when it comes to casting himself), you're going to have to do much better than that. And how can you honestly claim to "hate his choice of actors in this film" if you haven't even seen them act in it?

It's not always successful, but his stunt casting is always trying to play to an actor's untapped potential. See Travolta. That said, these are not exactly a glamorous bunch, with Jackson obviously being stock company at this point. I'm hoping he forces leone back to electric guitars and whistling, rather than his usual orchestral score, but we shall see.

Leone can't whistle much these days.

Of all the Tarantino films to complain about casting, I fail to see how this one is it. Damn near everyone seems genre appropriate.

Some people are just too cool for this I guess.

Although someone beat me to it and deleted his post, I will say that outright abusive posts/responses to what are legitimate questions or points by other members will be removed and the user can be suspended or banned. When you do that it suggests you're not here to actually contribute anything or discuss anything, and that you're just here to make blanket statements to let everyone know how above it all you are.

Considering that some of Tarantino's strongest, most memorable moments in his films have been entirely centered around dialogue, I'd imagine that having 8 characters confined to one place has the potential to be a feature-length version of the opening scene or the bar scene in Inglourious Basterds, or the setpiece at the supper table in Django Unchained. I would be very very happy if that ends up being the case, but I'm sure there'll be more to it.

I just want to see Walton Goggins win an Oscar (Another one, since he won one for producing an Oscar winning short film) to make up for never even getting an Emmy for Justified. If anyone has proved they can handle overly-articulate dialog, it's Goggins. And JJL of course. So many Oscar wrongs could be righted if this movie's any good

...or the majority of Reservoir Dogs...I'd be extremely happy if that was Hateful 8 as well, but i'm not holding my breath..

I'd say Tarantino's dialogue has greatly improved since then, but I know I'm in the minority.

I still like his dialogue in those earlier films but, short of maybe Death Proof, I think its been getting better, less "scripted" so to say, with each film. But that also may just be me.

Quentin Tarantino Says He Cut a Different Version of ‘The Hateful Eight’. In addition to featuring an overture and an intermission, the limited engagement will include six extra minutes of material.
