If you use them on sale items, they take the points for the pre-sale price, don't they?

Yes, there is a disadvantage: points are worth half their value when used against sale items. But during sales all items generate double points when purchased. This sale I bought 6 sale items, along with the Rivette and Fukasaku sets, and received £39 in points, which I used to get Wake Up & Die and Nekromantik 2 for nothing.

And I should feel bad but I cancelled my Battles set preorder to re-do it now. But actually, since only Network really interests me in the sale, I'll be able not to indulge into stupid purchases in order to reach the £50 threshold for european free shipping.
But I wont go as far as doing the same and cancel my preorders of Hellraiser, the Black cat set and Deep Red.

Do you still get double points on an order with just pre-orders, or do you have to add sale items as well?

I ordered just the Rivette set and received double points.

No, no sale items are necessary.

I ordered just the Rivette set, used my 549 points from the Yoshida set, and got no points. Do they take a while to show up?

I did not see the points added until my order status changed from "Payment complete" to "At Warehouse." It has been that way each time I ordered from them so I figure that is the norm.

I just checked and now I have them.

Kind of tempted to use them on the Battles box set, but given the time of year it's being released, I'm already pushing my luck with the Rivette set.

I think you either are mistaken or early bird discount counts as being part of the sale, because I got double points for my Rivette set!

I was saying no, you don't need to add sale items. As in, yes you get double points no matter what is in your order.

So, if I buy Rivette Box set and some of the sale items as an one order, I will still get double points for thr full price box set and double points for sale price of the reduced movies?

I'm not sure how my previous post constitutes biting anyone's hand. As has been discussed elsewhere, Arrow's points can only be redeemed through their site so if I were to do a little wrangling to maximise those points, it would all be going back into purchasing more Arrow product anyway, through their own system.

Luckily for everyone's conscience though, I'm really very lazy so I don't think I'll bother with the trouble of cancelling and reinstating a series of orders, even if it would save me some money in the long run. So Arrow needn't don protective gloves to save themselves from another satisfied, paying customer.

On that count I think we're in full agreement. I'll just take solace in knowing that in at least some small corner of the internet, my film acquisition habits qualify as miserly ;)

There's nothing wrong in principle, IMO, in cancelling and reordering to get a better deal. It used to be one of my regular activities in the good old days of DVD Soon - before they became the bad old days, of course. But, just like effigy105, "I'm really very lazy so I don't think I'll bother with the trouble of cancelling and reinstating a series of orders, even if it would save me some money in the long run". (I have 6 pre-orders o/s.)

I've bought so much from previous sale offerings that I've only identified 9 possibles in the current sale - and I'll probably knock that down to six. I've set a price limit of £7.99, though - except for the Massacre Gun LE - because I've noticed that sale items I've bought previously at £8.99 or £9.99 didn't take too long to show up at £7.99.

Yeah, I'm in a regular struggle with my eclectic interests to drive my buying toward the miserly end too. There comes a point where a passionate interest easily turns into hoarding.

FWIW, I emailed Arrow about if they'd retroactively apply the double points to my Rivette order rather than cancelling it and making me re-order and they just emailed back to say they're going to try and fix this next week for everyone who placed an order before the sale.

^ I dunno if it's just me, but I've had the extra points credited to my account this morning. I'd advise anyone who hasn't cancelled/reordered to see if they've also been credited.

Looks like I've had the extra points added for the Rivette. So a big thank you to all the folks at Arrow. It was completely unnecessary since as long as you keep putting out these amazing release, I'll be inclined to pick them up day one (or as close to depending on the weight of my wallet at the time), but it is appreciated.

Thanks Arrow. My Rivette credited too which makes this an even more mind boggling bargain.

I ordered the Battles of Honour and Rivette box sets for £100 using points.

And then I found a copy of Hell Comes to Frogtown blu for £20 :D

I'm now poor. *sigh*

I also received the extra points and second AlexHansen's sentiment.
