By the way, is there any way to determine the output frame rate or the Flash player? I tried using my projector's 24p mode yesterday (playback straight from the browser), but playback was noticeably choppy. Switching to 60p mode helped, but naturally I'd like to avoid 3:2 pulldown since by projector supports 24p.

Is anyone using the new (Gen 3, released Oct 2016) Amazon Fire stick for wi-fi streaming; and have you compared it to running your computer/browser through your TV?

Since there's no timetable on Playstation availability and no guarantee of access for PS3, I'm thinking about getting a Fire stick. It's not expensive but it sounds like results (at least during beta, for users of the previous Gen 2 model) have been patchy. A FS beta notice indicated that Fire stick users might be experience problems due to GPU limitations, but it looks like the Gen 3 stick has the same GPU as the Gen 2.

Minor edit after posting.

Looks like the Eisenstein silents set is finally coming to fruition. Battleship Potemkin and Old and New are up with Criterion logos.

FilmStruck will be the exclusive streaming home of the Criterion Collection as of November 11, when our library will be leaving Hulu.

That's what they said, but all the CC stuff on Hulu now says 5 days (wouldn't put my money on it though, it wouldn't be the first time Hulu has posted incorrect expiry dates).

Been clearing my watchlist of stuff that hasn't popped up on Filmstruck yet - in case it's of use to anyone, here's a partial list of interesting stuff that hasn't (and I presume these will eventually, but I've been watching them now just in case some of them won't):

Le Ciel est à vous and Lumière d'été (Jean Grémillon)
All My Good Countrymen (Vojtěch Jasný)
Une Chambre en ville, Pied Piper, Parking (Demy)
L'Éternel retour (Jean Delannoy)
Eva (Gustav Molander)
Dillinger è morto (Marco Ferreri)
La Truite (Joseph Losey)
Three Outlaw Samurai and The Oil-Hell Murder (Hideo Gosha)
Ronin-gai (Kazuo Kuroki)
Sada (Nobuhiko Obayashi)
Mahler (Ken Russell)
Flowers of St. Francis (Rossellini)
History is Made at Night (Borzage)
General Idi Amin Dada (Barbet Schroeder)

Anyone having trouble trying to use it on older Apple products? I have an iPad which is probably 6 years old and it just shuts down every time I try and play it on something

Alexander Nevsky is also up in an HD version, so maybe an all-encompassing Eisenstein box is on the way.

Whoa, that would set a record for longest forthcoming Criterion release if so, as the Eisenstein silents were promised, what, well over ten years ago, right?

They were mentioned a little while after the first Eisenstein set came out, so more like 15 to 16.

Not to be too technical, but surely Beyond the Valley of the Dolls would be longer, considering it has features made for the release from the early 90s?

It'd be very amusing to me if they released The Prince of Tides or one of those other weirder titles that never came out on Laserdisc (I suppose The Elephant Man will probably come eventually from that batch, though).

I'd love to see Prince of Tides on Criterion, it's definitely due for a reconsideration. Despite the Streisand factor, it's rather unsentimental and horrifying in its sexual violence and Nick Nolte would have won the Oscar in any other year

From my count, there are still 111 Hulu exclusive titles that still have not migrated to Filmstruck. So today is likely your last day to catch these for quite a while

111?! Would you mind posting the list? I had a couple of hundred titles on my watchlist and those 18 were the only ones I couldn't find!

Quite a few Fassbinder films have not yet made the jump to FilmStruck as well: Effi Briest, Chinese Roulette, Satan's Brew, Fear of Fear, Mother Kusters Goes to Heaven, and Beware of a Holy Whore.

So my initial glance at FilmStruck CC films (as opposed to non-CC films) is that HD transfers not available on iTunes are also not available on FilmStruck. Is that correct? And it is a question of stuff that Criterion simply doesn't have the right to distribute online, so the chances of stuff not on iTunes showing up on FilmStruck simply doesn't exist???
